We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Analyst - Corporate and Institutional Banking.

 

Job purpose

The Analyst would join HIF - Export Finance, Asia team in Singapore providing support across all sub-sectors and teams in the origination and execution of financing transactions within the region / in covering the Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) relationships, as well as the origination and execution of financing transactions with ECAs and/or DFIs. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks supporting the origination and execution of ECA supported transactions in Asia, in cooperation with the global team, from initial client discussions through to loan disbursements. Applicants should be team players, showing high levels of motivation and strong work ethic underpinned by an interest and passion for export finance. They will also be strong communicators both with internal and external stakeholders, with the latter including, consultants, legal counsel, and other market participants.

 

In this role you will

  • Support marketing and business development activities by creating marketing materials, such as pitch books, responses to requests for proposals and teaser documents, arranging and participating in client meetings, supporting seniors in setting go-to market strategy, market scoping and identifying potential opportunities
  • Support the management of internal approvals processes, including conflicts clearances, business approvals, calculation of transaction profitability, capital allocation approvals, credit approvals, environmental clearances, etc., as relevant
  • Provide support in structuring an ECA-backed financing and analysing the transaction’s risk allocation as well as execution of mandated transactions, including assisting with documentation aspects of Export Finance transactions and review of transaction due diligence materials
  • Provide support with ongoing administration of the existing portfolio, when such is relevant for the client-facing team, as well as with management information requirements
  • Provide support including teach-ins for front, middle and back office / internal stakeholders on ECA backed financing
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Understand HSBC’s strategy as a global universal bank and its client centric approach. This will include knowledge of how the business is structured and organized, engaging effectively with colleagues across businesses and products, and working collaboratively in a global context

 

To be successful you will need

  • Thorough understanding of Export Credit Agency solutions with experience in executing ECA backed transactions would be a plus
  • Good understanding of banking and key financing/loan products as well as core credit analysis skills and knowledge of credit metrics, cash flow modelling skills
  • Experience creating marketing materials including pitch books
  • Ability to review and understand (and summarise, where necessary) key due diligence elements (commercial, environmental, etc.), underlying legal documentation required for loan facilities (preferred)
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with ability to multitask, schedule time effectively and digest and convey complex information in an understandable and succinct manner: the individual must be a self-starter, with sufficient motivation to manage his/her own deadlines and deliverables in a proactive manner as well as strong work ethic underpinned by enthusiasm to learn about the ECA financing product and to advance within the team/business area
  • Understanding of HSBC internal tools and systems such as CME, ORC, Navigator, etc. is preferred but not a must
