BJO is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, facilitate and lobby for implementation of HSBC’s strategic plans in China at Group, ASP and HBCN levels as well as development plans of HBCN's business.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive communications with governments, industry associations and key state-owned enterprises to ensure their continued support to the Bank in various business initiatives, pilot projects or external events.
  • Bring in external stakeholders as appropriate into the work stream and communication group to support initiation and execution of the Bank’s GBA strategic projects.
  • Tap into GBA financial and real economy ecosystem to help business lines in deepening key client relationship and deliver tangible value to business growth.
  • Work closely with the Bank’s second line of defense in liaising proper and timely responses to GBA governments and regulators.
  • Leverage on external engagements to obtain first-hand policy insights and form house views on regional political and industrial environment to help the Bank identify business opportunities and avoid potential pitfalls.
  • Build up and maintain professional relationship with local government bodies within GBA.
  • Add value to key customers leveraging on the understanding of Bank’s products and services and views on GBA market and policy momentum.
  • Assist respective lines of business in developing and farming new customers.
  • Spot the needs or pain points by effective communication with key customer contacts. Act as a coordinator and representative of the Bank to address customer issues with internal departments and form proper feedback to customers.
  • Enhance HSBC’s market leadership and corporate image as most trusted international bank in GBA through various engagements and events.
  • Observe and collect external parties’ view and expectations to the Bank to help mitigate reputational risk.
  • Maintain team’s data base (including key contact information, government policies, external events trackers, internal stakeholder map and materials) to support line manager’s work and facilitate efficient workstream within team.
  • Draft, translate and proofread key documents and assist in the logistic arrangements for Group/ASP seniors’ visits in GBA.
  • Arrange external meetings for Group/ASP/country-level seniors, summarize meeting minutes and track follow-up actions.
  • Develop and enhance simple but effective interaction mechanism with key internal stakeholders for line manager.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Bank’s policies procedures and controls as well as external regulations.
Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Business Management, Economics, Politics or a related field.
  • At least 8 years working experience in governments, regulators or financial institutions.
  • Demonstrate proper understanding in Chinese mainland political and banking industry environment as well as Hong Kong banking industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese mandarin. Proficiency in Cantonese will be preferred.
