HSBC Internal Cloud (HIC) and IKP (Internal Kubernetes Platform) are our strategic hosting platforms supporting the fast-growing demand from numerous customers. We have deployed over 15,000 servers in 3 regions underpinning thousands of Technology services.

As a specialist engineer, you will lead engineering solutions, working with a federated support team and help drive the internal cloud infrastructure and products.

 

What you’ll do

•             Design, deliver and operate solutions to solve common engineering and operational challenges to ensure the team is focused on delivering value.

•             Provide technical guidance and support for customers whilst driving deployment consistency by providing automation and configuration management services to the products.

•             Participate in code reviews and approvals; and definition of continuously improving code standards and create self-service automation to allow ease of adoption for users

•             Ensure infrastructure and services are built and configured in compliance with centrally defined blueprints, design patterns and standards, reusing approved components as far as possible.

•             Help provide engineering solutions that align to the product strategy and roadmap, its future state architecture and drive the customer success agenda for the product whilst driving strong collaboration between federated domains underpinning internal cloud across CTO, and across the business lines and with vendors.

•             Produce documentation to allow other engineers to use the solution and enhance it as necessary and join and support the crisis calls across the global regions as necessary and weekend L3 supports.

 

What you need to have to succeed in this role

•             Experience and working knowledge on HIC/IKP, Hybrid Integration Platform, Software Defined Compute, Storage and Networks.

•             Working knowledge of Load Balancers and proxy services and technologies along with understanding of Cloud technologies is desirable along with Strong understand of public cloud offerings with preferable experience in building applications on

•             Experience in Automation scripting, and a deep technical expertise on distributed platforms and providing production support, troubleshooting issues and providing solutions and engaging vendors.

•             Working knowledge of multiple middleware disciplines (Web Servers, Application Servers, Messaging and Application Lifecycle Management) is highly desirable

•             Strong People Leadership, Articulation, Strategic Planning and Execution, Networking, and Influencing Skills.
