Enterprise Technology is the Technology organisation responsible for the design, build and ongoing maintenance of the systems owned by the Group Functions (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Core Banking, Corporate Functions and Deputy COO). The organisation consists of over 8,000 people working in collaboration across 14 countries, to support over 3,000 applications.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, HRIT is currently seeking a talented ServiceNow Lead Development Specialist to support and enhance the HRSD and Legal instances of ServiceNow.
You will be accountable for the development, delivery, and support of ServiceNow-based solutions that enable our HR and Legal teams to operate efficiently and provide first-class service to our colleagues. You will lead the technical strategy and development for the HRSD ServiceNow instance, ensuring alignment with business needs and HSBC’s technology standards. Working across multiple ServiceNow Agile Delivery Pods, you’ll oversee development sprints that deliver both continuous enhancements and larger initiatives, ensuring the platform remains stable, secure, and scalable.
In this role you will:
- Leading the development and delivery of ServiceNow solutions, including configuration, scripting, and integration for the HRSD instance.
- Collaborating with HR and Legal product owners, Agile Leads, and Scrum Masters to prioritize and deliver the ServiceNow product backlog.
- Capturing, analysing, and documenting business processes and requirements.
- Designing and implementing solutions using ServiceNow’s out-of-the-box capabilities and custom development (e.g., system configuration, scripts, rules, workflows, portal widgets, security rules).
- Ensuring the platform’s health and performance through proactive monitoring, upgrades, and patching.
- Supporting day-to-day application operations, including incident and problem management.
- Testing configurations and code to ensure they meet quality and functional requirements.
- Writing and maintaining functional and technical documentation for all solutions.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities, such as performance enhancements and error detection.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong experience with ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD) implementations.
- Proven expertise in developing and supporting SaaS platforms, including working with software vendors to stay updated on releases and roadmaps.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including running ceremonies and managing sprints across multiple pods.
- Experience with IT Service Management processes, particularly Change, Incident, and Problem Management.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including configuration, scripting, and integrations.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools is a plus
This role can be based in Sheffield or Edinburgh and offers hybrid working.
