Core Banking (Global) is responsible for the development and maintenance of HSBC Core Banking platforms globally. This role sits within Core Banking (UK), specifically the Retail Processing System (RPS), the Core Banking platform of HSBC UK. 

 

Role Purpose:

 

  • To act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the domains/products/applications supported by RPS.
  • Provide the capability to support ‘getting the job done’ through a combination of technical change as well as organizational change:
    • Provide expertise in system/solution design.
    • Provide empathy and understanding of the people and roles they play in organizations.
    • Provide expertise and knowledge to influence decision making within your peer group
  • Deliver solutions across potentially multiple mechanisms/methodologies with a high empathy for continuous delivery and incremental business outcome.
  • Participate and influence product planning and strategy sessions.
  • Validate the facts and details of deliverable to meet the needs of stakeholders, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide a 'Customer Centric approach' to all aspects of the role.
  • Assess and articulate the impact of a change/incident on the system to all stakeholders.
  • Provide system expertise to help resolve production incidents.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing SME guidance across specific domains/products/applications in support of all elements of delivery/design/stakeholder support and service resilience.
  • Providing key artefacts across specific domains/products/applications in support of all elements of delivery/design/stakeholder support and service resilience.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements (RPS is primarily hosted on IBM z-Series Mainframe therefore the below are essential skillsets):

 

  • Proven experience using IBM z-Series
  • Experience of COBOL across batch and online (CICS) environments supported by a DB2 database
  • Experience of working within a banking organization or similar complex corporate environment
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Delivery across multiple projects/platforms.
  • Support for issue resolution.
  • Functional support and a strong trusting relationship across multiple Business and Technology stakeholders.

 

This role is based in Sheffield and offer hybrid working.
