Our technology team in Sheffield work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build data platform on Cloud that house the financial data of millions of customers around the world, to our internal Finance and Risk to conduct analytic on managerial, financial and risk. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Cross Functions Common Components Team in Foundations Technology provides a common set of re-usable frameworks, code and services, which interact with both Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure platform, enabling Finance value streams to achieve their required business processing. The cloud-based solutions being delivered need to be highly scalable, reliable, resilient, and innovative, involving the highest standards of technical engineering combined with a quick time to market.

In this role you will:

  • Design, develop and deploy services capable of meeting the anticipated load, performance, availability, security, and resilience requirements, with a focus on automation of build, testing and deployment process on all environments to minimize variation and ensure predictable high-quality code and data.
  • Work within our Execution Management Services POD, building python-based execution frameworks on Google Cloud Platform. 
  • Work closely with designers, developers, and architects to acquire knowledge of the system solution and the expected end to end usage pattern to ensure fast and accurate delivery of new functionality and improvements.
  • Contribute to code and review other's code for best practice, ensuring compliance with all relevant controls and standards including relevant Service Management Standard.
  • Provide appropriate communication, release documentation, knowledge sharing sessions and product demonstrations to our customers and stakeholders on product deliveries
  • Provide leadership for team, component and production incidents reviews (PIR) and demonstrate desire to take ownership.
  • Provide production troubleshooting support in the event of a production incident.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Experience of engineering Python based solutions and making Rest API calls.  
  • Experience of Google Cloud Platform and interacting with Google API’s.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, think analytically, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience of working in DevOps development teams delivering cloud service solutions.
  • Experience of Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Linux Shell Scripts, CICD.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and an ability to interact professionally with an array of business users and technical teams.

This role is based in Sheffield and offers hybrid working.
