We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Architect

 

You’ll lead the architecture and design of our Digital Business Banking platform. You’ll play a pivotal role in defining the technical vision, ensuring our platform is scalable, secure, and high-performing, and driving innovation across our digital banking solutions.

 

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align technology with business goals. You’ll advocate for and implement modern microservices-based architecture, actively participate in coding and design reviews, and drive DevOps practices and cloud adoption Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your leadership will help shape the future of digital banking for UK SMEs, making a real impact on how businesses bank with us.

In this role you’ll:

  • Design and define the architectural roadmap for the Digital Business Banking platform, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance
  • Collaboration with Cross- Functional Teams, work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align architecture with business goals
  • Microservices-Based Architecture and Implement microservices-based architecture leveraging Java and Spring Boot frameworks
  • Actively participate in coding, design reviews, and solution implementation for critical components and drive the implementation of DevOps practices, ensuring efficient CI/CD pipelines and robust monitoring mechanisms
  • Architect cloud-native solutions using Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., GKE, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Pub/Sub) and guide teams in adopting GCP best practices

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to lead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, mentor teams, and define best practices and the ability to drive collaboration across distributed teams in agile environments
  • Proficiency backend development skills with hands-on experience in in Java (11+) and Spring Boot
  • Proven experience designing and deploying applications on GCP, including familiarity with GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery
  • Practical knowledge of designing and building microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems
  • Expertise in building CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps, and knowledge of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
