Responsibilities
- Performing IBM Mainframe (zSeries) Storage hardware / software design, configuration, testing, implementation and support
- Providing technical leadership / contribution, from an IBM Mainframe Storage perspective to cross team infrastructure projects, managing multiple concurrent requirements and challenges
- Working and partnering with vendors (e.g. IBM, DELL, Broadcom) to implement new technologies and functionality, as well as influence future design direction.
- Delivering change activities to minimise risk of impact to customers, following appropriate testing and verification processes
- Collaborating across teams to drive standardisation and reduce complexity of the environment.
Skills Required
- Hands on experience to configure and support IBM Mainframe attached storage hardware (IBM DS8000 and TS7700, DELL DLm 8500 and Brocade DCX’s)
- In depth experience working on IBM Mainframe z/OS environments, and supporting storage software (IBM: IDCAMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, DFSMS (inc OAM object storage), TDMF, CSM and GDPS, as well as Broadcom (CA): CA1, CA Vantage, CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA View, Endeavor)
- Good understanding of concepts related to: LPARs, Sysplex, Disaster recovery, Logical Corruption Protection, Fiber Channel, Evergreening and Change/Incident Management
- Should have familiarity with supporting tooling like SanNav, GKLM, Storage Control/Insights, and Putty
- Additional beneficial skills include Rexx, Python, APP (Ansible), Jenkins, Sort tooling, SMF/RMF knowledge and restful API exploitation.
