The Role
As Head of Business Banking Technology, you’ll own the in-country technology agenda for HSBC UK Business Banking aligning business priorities with technology strategy and delivery. You’ll oversee the delivery and operation of key digital platforms including UK DBB Web Channels UK DBB Mobile and Kinetic with clear accountability for strategic design build quality and service uptime. The role spans a significant technology estate and budget including Change the Bank and Run the Bank investment. Success means delivering a digital-first operating plan that improves customer journeys and releases new features while strengthening resilience evergreening critical systems and control effectiveness. You’ll work closely with UK Business Banking leadership and the UK CIO and partner with regional and global teams to modernise or decommission legacy systems and progress cloud adoption and agile ways of working. You’ll also create synergies across UK Technology, including Retail Banking and Wealth to simplify technology stacks and progress platform and architectural convergence.
What you'll be doing
- Own UK Business Banking technology delivery and day-to-day engagement with UK business leadership and the UK CIO within policy budget and regulatory frameworks
- Oversee the full lifecycle of UK DBB Web Channels UK DBB Mobile and Kinetic including strategic design build quality and service uptime metrics
- Set the direction for a digital-first operating plan that improves customer journeys and delivers new features at pace
- Govern the Change the Bank order book across business- and technology-driven programmes with a focus on outcomes and delivery discipline
- Strengthen resilience evergreening and critical systems performance while reducing total cost of technology ownership
- Manage investment across Change the Bank and Run the Bank balancing cost efficiency with resilience controls and service performance
- Champion modern engineering practices including DevSecOps and automation to improve build release and operational performance
- Partner with UK regional and global teams to modernise or decommission legacy systems and advance cloud technology adoption and agile working
What we're looking for
- Bring substantial senior technology leadership experience across large-scale digital platforms and complex technology estates
- Demonstrate accountability for service availability operability incident management and control effectiveness in a regulated environment
- Show experience managing significant budgets across change delivery and production support with clear focus on cost efficiency and value
- Evidence modern engineering delivery experience spanning architecture build quality devops practices and delivery disciplines
- Apply cloud computing concepts to improve service and change delivery including platform modernisation and migration planning
- Use service level management incident management and change management practices to improve stability and customer outcomes
- Build and develop global teams across multiple geographies and matrix structures including performance management and development plans
- Influence senior stakeholders to prioritise work that improves resiliency availability and technology simplification across the UK technology landscape
