The GCIO COO function operates as the backbone of the GCIO organisation, taking ownership and accountability for all operational aspects to ensure a seamless running of the GCIO business to exceptionally high standards. Aligned to the overall HSBC business structure, focused on continuous improvement and simplification to support GCIO to a consistent high quality, GCIO COO acts as a key enabler to the firm’s ambition to ‘be the most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do’.

 

This role sits within the Workforce Strategy and Management function of GCIO COO and will play a key part in shaping how we plan, manage and evolve our Global Technology workforce to meet business opportunities.

 

The Workforce Enablement Lead will play a crucial role equipping employees with the resources, tools, and support they need to maximise their potential and develop their career at HSBC.

 

The role holder will be leading the design and deployment of a combination of strategies, including providing access to relevant information, training, technology, and a positive work environment. The role holder will focus on enhancing employee performance, productivity, and satisfaction, which in turn can lead to improved business outcomes.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Leading the assessment of the current state of employee skills, knowledge gaps, and areas where performance can be improved.
  • Ownership of People Priorities agenda for GCIO, ensuring HR partner and senior leadership engagement
  • Creating a strong onboarding programme to integrate new hires into the organization
  • Promoting clear and consistent communication channels and encouraging collaboration among, and across teams.
  • Launching and driving initiatives focused on employee engagement, recognition, and reward.
  • Based on the needs assessment, create and implement strategies to address those gaps, such as training programmes, knowledge management systems, or technology upgrades.
  • Ensure employees have access to the necessary tools, technology, and information to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Promote a positive work environment by creating a culture of psychological safety, support, recognition and continuous improvement.
  • Track key performance indicators KPIs) and Snapshot Scores to assess the impact of their initiatives and adjust the initiatives as needed. Preparing reports on retention and growth initiatives for leadership.
  • Analysing performance data in partnership with HR teams to pinpoint areas where training or support can be enhanced to drive better results.
  • Fostering a culture of learning and development by encouraging employees to embrace continuous learning and development.

 

Qualification and Skills:

  • Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive workforce retention and growth strategies aligned with the organization's overall goals.
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills, along with a deep understanding of employee engagement, development, and retention strategies.
  • Adept at building relationships, fostering a positive work environment, and driving initiatives that attract and retain top talent.
  • Successfully navigating organizational changes and guiding employees through transitions.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey workforce plans to various stakeholders and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Strong understanding of staffing principles, policies and practices, including recruitment, talent management and performance management.
  • Interpreting data to understand employee engagement, satisfaction and performance.
  • Experience in developing and implementing inclusive policies and practices and promoting a Diverse workforce.
