We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Enterprise Lead DevOps Engineer.

 

The role is based under Global Defence which is a team within Cybersecurity focused on enabling the firm to be safely successful everywhere HSBC chooses to do business using vigilance, innovation, reliability, intelligence and being mission driven. Specifically, the role holder will join the Automation programme which consists of several individual projects, with the one most relevant to the work the role holder will be doing being called GCAS (Generic Certificate Automation Service).

GCAS is a service that is used for the automated lifecycle management of TLS Certificates in HSBC.

The role holder will join the Data & Automation team within the Network Security programme which consists of data engineers, data analysts, machine learning engineers and application developers who collaboratively deliver technical capabilities for the programme.

In this role you will:

 

  • Develop new features and enhancements for GCAS using FAST API
  • Develop, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment solutions.
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to integrate security best practices into the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and compliance with various controls including DEPL.
  • Design and deploy infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Ansible, G3, Terraform, Azure DevOps.
  • Implement security controls, monitoring, and threat detection solutions across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Automate compliance and security checks using DevSecOps principles.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support security incident response efforts by providing automation and tooling for log analysis and remediation.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
  • Maintain and improve container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
  • Stay up to date with emerging DevOps and cybersecurity trends, tools, and best practices.

 

 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

 

  • Experience in a DevOps, Development, or Infrastructure Engineering role with a focus on security.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, G3, Terraform or FAST API DevOps.
  • Expertise in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud security best practices.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD best practices and development of pipelines from scratch and debugging the existing ones.
  • Proven experience mentoring engineers, and providing technical guidance.

 

 

This role can be based in Sheffield or Birmingham
