Principal responsibilities 

  • Lead a team of Investment Counsellors, Product Specialists and Business Managers in delivering high value investment advice to HNW and UHNW clients and prospects in China;
  • Collaborate closely with Private Bank team at HSBC China Bank (HBCN) and the regional/global Private Bank teams to develop a differentiated investment proposition, aligned with the HSBC Group strategy and leveraging our core strengths
  • Apply for the necessary regulatory licenses to provide comprehensive services to Private Bank clients, such as financial product distribution license.
  • Build an investment advisory framework aligned with HSBC group governance to deliver competitive advisory services to Private Bank customers;
  • Partner with internal and external asset managers, banks, trust companies etc to develop a comprehensive product offering;
  • Work with HSBC China Bank’s Private Bank team to acquire target HNW and UHNW clients;
  • Collaborate with various business at IBCN, including investment banking and brokerage, to provide one-stop services to UHNW clients;  
  • Monitor and drive team performance, and manage risk controls for the business and client's overall investment portfolio;
  • Develop the business and hiring strategy for the Private Bank division, including the efficient team structure and recruitment of investment professionals;
  • Maintain HSBC’s internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, and addressing any issues raised by regulators;
  • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business.

Requirements

  • ​A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from a top university is preferred;
  • Extensive experience in managing a high-performing sales team is essential;
  • Strong expertise in  financial products particularly in brokerage, structured products and asset management;
  • Experience with foreign institutions and/or overseas exposure is preferred to bring international standards to local business;
  • Entrepreneurship spirit, self-starter mindset, independence, with strong people management and leadership skills;
  • A strong risk management and conduct mindset is essential;
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English and Mandarin.
