Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

  • Align ALM strategic development directions along Business Strategy, Product, Investment, Actuarial, Finance and Risks functions at INSH and with Group
  • Review and contribute ALM view on the Strategic Asset Allocation(SAA) that initiated by Investment team 
  • Contribute to and evaluate new product development, new investment initiatives, and medium to long term balance sheet enhancement from local statutory solvency, IFRS17 CSM, Economic Capital and ALM point of view
  • Identifying the ALM related risk appetite the company needs to sustain INSH strategy. Support and develop ALM optimization under IFRS17 framework and local solvency regimes (C-ROSS in China), utilise risks capacity in the regulatory and financial domains
  • Drive the ALM community and lead ALM strategic developments and framework at INSH
  • Lead local ALM team and working within Group ALM hub in developing & refining ALM models and strengthening ALM and hedging capability at INSH
  • Oversee the review of ALM exercises, liaise with SAA team for ALM strategy implementation to support business strategy, new product development and in-force management
  • Manage projects and coordinate teams in the implementation of INSH ALM Risk Monitoring management information (MI), providing support to Group ALM Risk Monitoring MI
  • Drive modelling team to identify ALM models development and platform needs

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified actuary with senior experience in life insurance companies or consultancy firms under a similar role
  • A clear communicator to engage with senior stakeholders across the business and with the ALM community within HSBC Life entities
  • Knowledge in IFRS17 reporting, CROSS II is required. Knowledge in Hong Kong or Singapore local regulatory solvency requirement is an asset
  • Experience in derivatives hedging and investment is a plus
  • Ability to drive projects through providing appropriate project framework, clarity on content and deliverables and effectively engaging and managing stakeholders
  • Strong influencing and communication skills and an ability to work with regulator, international and virtual teams
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; including ability to "think outside the box"
