The role will provide leadership, inspiration and oversight to HSBC Insurance China Investment Team to ensure the delivery of investment results meeting client objectives.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

  • Establish and maintain effective collaboration with key functions (Finance, Actuarial, Risk, RC) and stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and formulate investment strategies, processes, policies and standards as appropriate to a given asset class or geographical remit.
  • Manage day-to-day portfolio management of both linked and non-linked business.
  • Develop Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) for all insurance portfolios.
  • Define performance metrics and benchmarks of the investment strategies; ensure both the investment strategies and processes are executed with proper infrastructure allocation and utilization.
  • Manage Asset Liability Management (ALM) process and provide oversight in investment operations and middle office functions locally.
  • Work closely with the Global Investment Hub to leverage asset class capabilities of the Hub team.
  • Your appointment will be subject to regulatory approval by the National Financial Regulatory Administration(“NFRA”)/China Securities Regulatory Commission (“CSRC”). Upon approval, you will be classified as China Local Material Risk Taker (MRT) and the MRT terms and conditions specified in HBCN/RRB/HACN/INSH/IBCN Variable Pay Deferral Guide will be applicable to any variable pay that may be awarded to you.

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Leadership and people management capability is critically important, with ability to lead, unite, encourage, inspire and develop the team.
  • Stakeholder management and problem-solving skills are also important.
  • Professional experience in portfolio management, investment research, risk management in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skill in both English and Mandarin
  • Possess extensive knowledge on China economic and financial market, in particular credit, fixed income and equity market. Alternative investments knowledge is valuable.
  • Bachelor or Master degree in related disciplines. Professional qualifications in investment and actuarial are helpful.
  • Possess strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills – able to make business aligned and timely decision.
