If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of RC Manager, Global Function and Digital Business Services (VP/GCB 5)

About the role

  • This role is the go-to Compliance advisor for GF and DBS activities in Korea and the key point of contact for supervisory authorities. You’ll proactively navigate regulatory change, provide practical, risk-based guidance to the business, and represent HSBC’s position with the FSS, FSC and other regulators.

Key responsibilities

Compliance advisory

  • Provide regulatory risk review and practical solutions across banking operations and IT-related processes, including new product/service launches and material change activities.
  • Deliver timely, well-grounded Compliance Opinions based on Korean laws and regulations and HSBC internal control standards.
  • Advise on AI-enabled and data-driven across operations and technology change, ensuring alignment with Korean regulatory expectations and applicable model/data governance requirements.
  • Assess technology-related regulatory and conduct risks (e.g., explainability, bias/fairness, data privacy, outsourcing/third-party risk, and auditability) and propose pragmatic controls, plus clear approval, reporting and escalation pathways.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders (e.g., Operations, IT, Risk, Data/Model Governance, Legal) to embed compliance requirements into end-to-end process and control design.

Regulatory relations

  • Own HSBC’s engagement with the FSS, FSC and other supervisory authorities, including regulatory filings, licensing matters and responses to examinations.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with regulators to stay ahead of emerging trends and translate regulatory expectations into internal policy and business guidance.
  • Prepare responses to regulatory information requests and provide audit/examination support, including on-site inspections where required.

Global–local governance

  • Localise global GF/DBS policies and standards to meet Korean regulatory requirements, and communicate local regulatory nuances and expectations back to Regional/Group stakeholders.
  • Participate in industry working groups and forums to contribute HSBC’s perspective to regulatory and policy discussions.
  • Support the Compliance Officer (RC) and CEO in compliance oversight activities, including management reporting and governance forums as required.

What we’re looking for

  • Regulatory acumen: Deep, interpretive understanding of the Korean financial regulatory framework (e.g., Banking Act, Personal Information Protection Act, Credit Information Act, Regulation on Outsourcing by Financial Institutions, and related supervisory guidance).
  • Regulatory relations skills: Credible, polished communicator with the ability to engage supervisory authorities constructively and persuasively.
  • Advisory mindset: Pragmatic and solutions-oriented—focused on enabling the business to move forward safely and compliantly.
  • Bilingual communication: Business-level English for Regional/Group engagement (reading policies, writing reports, participating in cross-border meetings) and professional Korean for interpreting local regulation and producing high-quality written opinions.
  • Tech/AI literacy: Ability to understand AI-driven solutions and translate compliance requirements into practical, implementable controls (including awareness of data/privacy, model risk, explainability, bias/fairness and monitoring considerations).
