Since launching HSBC Innovation Banking, the Enterprise AI and Software team in Northern California has grown rapidly by doing the work differently. We work with some of the most important companies being built in this market – and we are looking for someone who wants to be part of building what comes next
This is a rare moment in enterprise AI. The companies defining this category are being built right now, and this team is already working with many of them. The person who joins will have the opportunity to build relationships that compound for decades, with the institutional support of HSBC behind them and a team that founders actually want to call. We are looking for someone who takes the unconventional path seriously – whether that means leaving a safe career to try something new, joining a company before it was obvious, or simply thinking differently about what this role could be
The role is focused on building deep relationships with the founders, CEOs, and finance leaders of new and scaling technology companies. The team works with many of the best companies in the Enterprise AI and software sector and you should have relevant experience and a genuine passion for the space. By working closely with these companies, you will build trusted relationships leveraging the HSBC Innovation Banking platform to help them grow
You will report to one of the senior bankers on the Enterprise AI and Software team who will help guide your onboarding and success here at HSBC. You will also collaborate with multiple teams across all of HSBC – particularly Relationship Advisors, our Credit Solutions team, and other product advisors – to provide a seamless banking experience for your clients
What you’ll be doing:
- Build deep, long-term relationships with the founders and finance leaders of growing technology companies
- Take genuine ownership of your portfolio: understanding each company’s business deeply, anticipating their needs, and staying ahead of what they need before they ask.
- Provide responsive, thoughtful, and proactive service and advisory to your clients and prospects.
- Build effective internal networks across HSBC Innovation Banking with key partners
- Building HSBC’s brand and your own brand externally – hosting quality gatherings and showing up consistently in the innovation ecosystem.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
- Extensive, relevant technology ecosystem experience – banking, venture, and/or startup operating experience all considered.
- Resourceful, driven, and committed to growing through hard work, open-mindedness, and experience.
- Passionate about technology start-ups and the venture ecosystem – not as a talking point, but because you actually find it fascinating.
- Strong Relationship Management skills with companies within the Technology and Innovation Sectors
- Strong finance, analysis and commercial lending experience, including the ability to understand and negotiate credit terms
- Strong all-round knowledge of banking products, including Treasury, Clearing and Trade Finance Solutions
- Strong background in debt structuring and execution.
- Takes the unconventional path seriously – whether that means leaving a safe career to try something new, joining a company before it was obvious, or simply thinking differently about what this role could be.
