We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of VP - NFR Collateral, Risk and Billing.

Principal responsibilities

Impact on the Business

  • Control Framework – providing line of sight of risks and issues. Being seen as a true partner by Operations Management in supporting them in managing their risks and issues, yet at the same time delivering NFR global strategy and framework. Ensuring that the control framework is fully embedded and operating to maximum effectiveness.
  • Control Culture - The role requires partnership with Operations management team on the one hand and also to hold them accountable for the processes that they own, assist in driving a culture of risk awareness and adherence on the other. By fully embedding the control framework, developing stakeholder engagement and raising the profile of the Ops NFR team, the incumbent will need to assist in driving a positive control culture. To do this the existing training and development agenda will need to be enhanced and delivered, as will the sharing of best practice and standards through appropriate forums. Managerial accountability must be improved as a primary goal as well as general staff knowledge and practice.
  • Implement effective planning, stakeholder engagement and communications processes that ensure that priorities are aligned, realistic target dates set, and appropriate resources to deliver are agreed with Operations Management and incorporated in the AOP. Proactively seek feedback on performance and operational impact of the function and dynamically make adjustments where needed.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • NFR Structure / Organization – helping to deliver the NFR strategy for the Product area and delivering the Global Operating Model. A key measure of success in the role will be to fully implement the standardized operating model that meets the diverse needs of an extensive stakeholder base.
  • People – The person in this role will be required to build strong relationships and partner with their NFR colleagues across locations. Ability to positively influence and effectively communicate with global stakeholders across the business
  • Ability to multi-task, manage disparate stakeholders, build consensus, and implement effective business solutions on a global basis

  • A committed team player, committed to coaching individuals within the team and supporting them to achieve their own personal development plans where appropriate

  • Partner with operations management to continually improve our operational risk control processes and mitigate risks in our business operating models
  • Focused on delivering results, positively challenges the status quo, seeks improvement and is resilient in meeting targets
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Manage relationships and coordinate / leverage other teams outside of Operations such as MSS NFR, Finance, Operational Risk and Internal Audit
  • Participate in the development of relevant policies and control best practices
  • Participate in MSS-wide reviews and control assessments
  • Provide guidance on the development of relevant policies and control best practices using specialist product knowledge

Requirements

  • Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Management
  • Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments
  • Possess strong analytical background and critical thinker, sound judgement on sensitive/gray areas
  • Proven ability in involvement in large-scale, complex global / regional change programmes
  • Successful experience in developing and retaining critical talent and building an effective team
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language
  • Good working knowledge of Operations functional area and varying degrees of appreciation for risk management strategies, capabilities, and governance
  • Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors, innovation etc.
  • Deep understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviors, processes and objectives
  • Strong knowledge of HSBC’s various Global businesses and functions
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
  • Strong team leadership skills, particularly with regards to coaching and developing team members.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with various teams across the HSBC organisation.
