We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Shared Services Recs Utility.

 

The Business Risk and Resilience Risk function brings together specialist risk and control disciplines (Busines Risk, Business Continuity & Incident Management, Operational Resilience, Protective Security, ServCo and Third-Party Risk Management) under Group’s Chief Operating Office (GCOO). The team has responsibility for embedding the Enterprise Risk Framework across GCOO. This will be achieved by:

 

  • Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and overall Risk Management.
  • Setting, communicating and monitoring Risk Appetite in line with business requirements.
  • Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risks, including behaviours.
  • Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity.
  • Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of our control performance.
  • Facilitating control and issue remediations where required.
  •  

The purpose of the role is to:

 

  • Support, advise and challenge key stakeholders from Shared Services across the globe and in particular Business Reconciliation Control Services (BRCS), Enterprise Performance Management, and Regulatory Controls to ensure the risks in their domain are understood and well controlled. 
  • Effective partnerships with Global Business and Global Infrastructure Stakeholders for end-to-end delivery of Risk and Control management practices.
  • Analyse the performance of the control environment, perform end to end reviews, deep dive thematic reviews to identify weaknesses and designing new or modified controls to remediate these weaknesses.
  • Drive consistent embedment of Enterprise Risk Management framework, policy and procedures for Shared Services.
  • Provide expert advice to Shared Services on Risk and Control Management.
  • Lead the engagement with Global Business, Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance, Internal Audit representing Shared Services.
  • Instigate and manage initiatives to drive improvements to the Operations control environment including the effective design of material controls.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Seeks out opportunities to continuously drive improvements in the overall experience delivered to customers
  • Collaborate effectively being accountable for Business Risk relationship management with Business Operations and other partnering functions.
  • Provide expert risk and control advice, anticipate and mitigate emerging risks to Shared Services and Global Business partners.
  • Lead the implementation and / or delivery of initiatives around non-financial risk framework for Shared Services whilst considering any impact to Financial risk.
  • Accountable for delivering best in class service within the BR budget, including timely delivery of all initiatives in order to meet cost and headcount targets
  • Work closely with Business Service global stewards to ensure the alignment to global strategy, policies, frameworks and standards
  • Lead internal trigger event and thematic control reviews and risk related regulatory engagement
  • Bank-wide Transformation Initiatives specifically focused on mitigating material risks to the Bank.

  • Lead a global team to share and implement best practice and improve performance using global and external benchmarking.
  • Identify and analyse industry trends for emerging risks, horizon scanning to frame the BR strategy accordingly
  • Authentically engage a diverse group of senior stakeholders across 1LOD to 3LOD and deliver at pace.
  • Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business.
  • Drive a strong risk culture and role model desired behaviours.
  • Leading the design of effective KRIs and KCIs for proactive risk management.

Functional Knowledge:

 

  • Understanding of the Shared Services strategies
  • Experience of strategy development and target state design
  • Extensive knowledge of operational risk management and control frameworks
  • Experience of driving large scale transformation with proven track record of delivery
  • Control design and process reengineering experience
  • Strong relationship management skills with an ability to influence a range of stakeholders with differing priorities
  • Strong leader / positive role model with strong evidence of resilience
  • Knowledge of best practice in risk management
  • Extensive knowledge of Operations (Reconciliations) is desired
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)

 

Others:

 

  • Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely to Senior Executives, Group Executives, Non-Executives and Regulators, using simple language and accommodating globally distributed stakeholders.
  • Ability to distil varied information into useful, insightful and concise recommendations.
  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills with experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior executives.
