We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Manager – SG SETTLEMENTS.
Principal responsibilities
- Demonstrate effective supervision and execution of operational efficiency within the area, and compliance with all current and proposed internal and external regulation.
- By ensuring the complete, accurate and timely settlement of all transactions on a same day basis within required service standards
- By managing and controlling all non-routine settlements
- By keeping up to date with market and regulatory changes and implementing operational responses in a timely manner
- By ensuring that all reports are issued accurately and on a timely basis
- By minimizing risks through compliance with client service level agreements and by implementing measures to increase productivity.
- By coordinating distribution of workload and checking completeness and accuracy of Executive tasks and providing support to Executives in the execution of tasks where required.
- By minimizing failed trades and improving STP for broker dealer clients.
- Deliver premium service to Custody customers.
- By ensuring that customer enquiries and instructions are dealt with promptly and accurately and that all direct dealings and meetings with clients are professionally handled
- By meeting designated time frames for operational activities under service level requirements as may be agreed with clients from time to time and ensuring the highest standard of service at all times
- Deliver/support service and process improvements.
- By recommending system developments from an operational point of view.
- By studying our existing procedures, suggesting procedural and customer service improvements which are client focused.
- Promote team effectiveness.
- By promoting teamwork and actively assisting team members with operational requirements. Showing encouragement and support for colleagues
- By effectively assigning workload and rotating tasks in a way that encourages staff learning
- Protect the department from possible loss/es.
- By maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Through continually re-assessing the operational risk inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology.
Requirements
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle high volume, high value transactions accurately and under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of relevant systems used and processes.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well with good attention to detail.
- Team-focused with ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with managers and staff within the business.
- Willing to be assigned on AM Singapore shift (start of day as early as 8:00 am PHT).
- Knowledge on basic MS Excel functions and basic macro.
- An understanding of the overall securities industry from an operational and regulatory perspective, ideally with 3-5 years’ experience in a custody/securities role.
- A good understanding of the overall securities industry from an operational and regulatory perspective.
- Knowledge of SWIFT, preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge on MS Visual Basic is an advantage.
