We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Technical Architect/ Associate Director, Technical SME

The Technical SME for Private Banking is an experienced engineering professional with an architecture thinking mindset and business domain knowledge who is responsible for providing subject expertise and guidance alongside the engineering function.

They will lead the end-to-end solution design to deliver outcomes and be responsible for delivering in line with global patterns and strategies where appropriate, aligning business requirements to technology solutions where compliance with financial services regulations is a key factor.

Their primary stakeholders are Sub-Value Stream (SVS), Business Outcome & Technical Leads and Technical Product Owners.

In this role, you will

•  Define solution designs for changes in the regulatory environment in a way that supports the execution of the iWPB (international Wealth & Personal Banking) technology strategy and roadmap to deliver the Private Bank and Wealth Future State Architecture (FSA), articulating and addressing associated risks, issues, and technical debt.
• These designs are end-to-end and span often multiple platforms and owning SVSs. Acordingly, coordinate with lead platform architects to get endorsement of the solution options and ensure it aligns with the platform roadmap.
• Translate the requirements created by business analysts into designs that ensure products and services meet customer needs and expected Business Outcomes.
• Ensure the integrity of the design is maintained throughout the development lifecycle, liaising with the engineering team to ensure standards and regulatory requirements are incorporated.
• Collaborate with the technical product owners to define and deliver technical strategy and roadmap, looking for opportunities to improve the current landscape/enterprise.
• Identify dependencies across multiple Platforms and Value & Sub-Value Streams, maintaining awareness of projects/strategies outside of the Value Stream.
• Act as an interface to other engineering groups both regional and at Group level.
• Lead proof of concepts for new technical solutions and designs

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Certified.
• 10+ years in technology engineering or related technical leadership roles, at least 5 of which are solution architecture related in Private Banking / Wealth Management domain.
• 5+ years working experience on IT landscape in Asian markets (e.g. HK, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Malaysia)
• Strong understanding of agile methodologies including experience with tools like Jira, Confluence or similar for backlog management.
• Track record in coordinating solutions across multiple technology platforms and teams, and that meet overall compliance with the regulators.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making ability. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Extensive experience implementing solutions across multiple technology platforms.

Good to have :

• Working knowledge of HSBCs IT landscape across Private Banking, Wealth, Retail and Enterprise systems is an asset
• Knowledge of regulations as applied to Personal Banking, such as: CRS/FATCA, MIFID II, MIFIR, PRIIPS, CRD V, PSD II, GDPR, DORA, Basel III/IV
• Coding capability in Python or Java, REST APIs, Springboot Microservices.
• Familiarity with physical infrastructure design is desirable.
• Experience of Machine Learning, Data Science and Generative AI is desirable.
• Experience in database technologies and skilled in efficient data processing, including design, management, and optimization of data systems
