We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sub Value Stream Technology Lead – Capital and Statistical Regulatory Reporting (CSRR)
The Opportunity:
Capital and Statistical Regulatory Reporting Technology provides software solutions for the Controllership Value-Stream to support Group wide Capital Regulatory Reporting and delivery of the Controllership FSA. Team is responsible for Regulatory Reporting for multiple regulatory and risk types including Non Counterparty Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Leverage Ratio and Regulatory Reporting. This includes both HSBC developed services hosted on both on-premise and Google Cloud Platform as well as vendor services deployed on-premise – and supporting migration of key services to strategic vendor products.
What you’ll do:
The Tech Lead will report to the CIO for Finance, Sustainability and Group External Communications – and work with them and the Finance business on:
- Own and deliver the technology roadmap for Capital, Statistical and Regulatory Reporting (CSRR), ensuring alignment to Finance strategy, OKRs and the Group data strategy.
- Lead end-to-end delivery across a broad portfolio, managing priorities, dependencies and stakeholder expectations to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
- Drive future-state architecture and platform modernisation, improving scalability, resilience and reporting capabilities to meet evolving regulatory and business needs.
- Ensure production environments are stable, secure and resilient, with low incident volumes and reduced manual toil through automation and engineering best practice.
- Drive high service performance for regulatory reporting, including effective incident management, root-cause remediation and continuous operational improvement.
- Embed risk and control by design across delivery and operations, ensuring controls are adopted, evidenced and increasingly automated through DevSecOps practices.
- Build strong, trusted partnerships with senior Finance stakeholders and represent CSRR Technology in delivery, risk/control and budget governance with transparency and rigour.
- Develop a diverse, inclusive and high-performing team culture, coaching talent, encouraging innovation, and enabling effective cross-IT collaboration in a matrix environment.
- Manage a portfolio of change across BAU Change and Regulator outcomes (Basel 3.1 and Integrity of regulatory reporting)
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Proven experience managing IT systems that support Finance Regulatory Reporting within the Finance domain is required
- Previous experience of partnering with business stakeholders to execute long term plans to improve/redevelop IT platforms in a strategic direction, balancing short term demands with long term goals.
- Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced, complex environments, providing clear direction through ambiguity and change.
- Experience leading large, global engineering organisations (100+ FTE), including remote/distributed teams, building strong delivery partnerships.
- Delivery expertise using Agile methods, driving phased releases that provide incremental business value.
- Experience working with large vendors – providing both off the self and SaaS services
- Hands-on engineering background with deep knowledge of cloud, data, DevSecOps, and building scalable, secure, high-performance platforms is required.
- Proven ability to improve engineering productivity and quality through process optimisation, including adoption of Generative AI and agentic frameworks, plus good knowledge in IT financials and project management.
