We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sub Value Stream Technology Lead – Liquidity.

The Opportunity:

 

Treasury Technology is on an exciting journey to realise the vision of Group Treasury by delivering Apex, the strategic Treasury & Finance platform to protect & optimise HSBC's financial resources & enhance financial returns. We are building an ecosystem of services designed to replace outdated tools and address existing gaps and we are establishing common standards and reusable patterns that are being adopted across other areas.  Investment is focused on building scalable, resilient solutions that drive efficiency and innovation.

 

We are in search of a transformative engineering leader to transition our India-based engineering team from a legacy support model to a high-impact delivery team aligned with our modern cloud-native platform. This role is pivotal in evaluating current capabilities, crafting future talent strategies, and spearheading a cultural and mindset shift towards delivery excellence.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Provide engineering leadership to a team of multi-skilled developers within HSBC Technology India, part of Finance Technology.
  • Own the technology delivery roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and OKRs.
  • Design and implement a clear "Run vs Build" model within the team.
  • Enhancing engineering standards across DevOps, architecture, and business engagement.
  • Act as the senior voice in India for Treasury Technology, representing technical direction.
  • Maintain stable, scalable, and resilient production platforms that effectively support daily business operations.
  • Drive engineering transformation through automation, optimisation, and the application of cutting-edge technologies, focusing on key GCIO metrics.
  • Drive improvements in technology functions to achieve the "shared goals" of Finance, focusing on faster, safer change and establishing an engineering-led IT organisation
  • Ensure risk and control measures are integrated into all activities, automating them in agile processes as part of the Dev Sec Ops agenda.
  • Ensure production environments are stable, secure, and resilient, with low incident volumes and minimal manual "toil" for teams.
  • Encourage constructive global and cross-IT teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action.
  • Lead and build a diverse and inclusive team focused driving key customer-focused operational KPIs, such as reporting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Cultivate a team culture that fosters strong business partnerships, innovation, and continuous improvement in both operations and engineering.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Over 18 years of relevant experience in software engineering preferably in Finance Technology, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of transforming legacy teams into product-centric organisations.
  • Strong technical expertise in cloud-native architectures and DevOps.
  • Experience in high-stakes delivery environments, preferably in finance.
  • Previous experience partnering with business stakeholders to execute long-term plans for IT platform improvement/redevelopment, balancing short-term demands with long-term goals.
  • Relevant experience of GCP Architecture, ETL batch processing, python, SaaS tools / platforms in finance context.
  • Good knowledge of engineering, cloud, data, and Dev Sec Ops practices to build highly scalable, secure, and performant systems.
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex, and demanding environments, providing appropriate direction to teams while managing ambiguity and change.
  • Influential, credible, and persuasive, with active listening skills, embracing HSBC Values, demonstrating good judgement, and showcasing high collaboration skills for effective stakeholder management and strategic outcomes.
  • Good knowledge of IT Financials and Project Management disciplines
