HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director.
In this role, you will:
- Governance, security & compliance: Ensure all programmes and projects adhere to IT governance standards, security controls, and applicable regulatory requirements; manage approvals and assurance end-to-end.
- Strategic alignment: Maintain a strong understanding of the UK Common Services strategy, translating priorities into an executable portfolio plan and ensuring delivery aligns to agreed outcomes.
- Portfolio planning & roadmap management: Build and maintain integrated roadmaps, timelines, milestones, and dependency maps to keep delivery on track and transparent.
- Financial & resource management: Own budgets, cost forecasting, benefits tracking, and resource allocation to optimise investment decisions and support successful delivery.
- Delivery optimisation & risk management: Balance cost, scope, timeline, and quality; proactively manage risks, issues, and cross-programme dependencies across the Value Stream.
- Capacity, demand & workforce planning: Identify supply-and-demand gaps, support capacity planning, and recommend actions (re-prioritisation, hiring, vendor support, releases) in line with budget and forecasted demand.
- Initiative mobilisation & stakeholder engagement: Identify, shape, and initiate new initiatives with business and IT stakeholders—managing expectations and moving work from idea to funded execution.
- Documentation, reporting, MI & decision support: Produce and maintain decision-ready materials (reports, charters, proposals, enablement content, dashboards/MI) to support governance and delivery oversight.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Portfolio/programme delivery experience: Proven experience in experience managing multiple technology initiatives end-to-end, preferably within a regulated or financial services environment, with proven capability overseeing a US$20m portfolio to ensure effective governance, delivery, and stakeholder alignment.
- Governance, security & compliance: Strong understanding of IT governance, security controls, and regulatory expectations, with experience managing assurance and approvals.
- Strategic alignment & prioritisation: Ability to translate UK Common Services (or equivalent) strategy into a prioritised, outcome-led portfolio plan.
- Roadmap & dependency management: Skilled in building integrated roadmaps and managing milestones, dependencies, and delivery performance across whole Value Stream.
- Financial & commercial management: Hands-on ownership of budgets, forecasting, actuals tracking, cost control, investment decisions, and benefits tracking.
- Capacity, demand & workforce planning: Experience identifying supply/demand gaps and planning actions such as re-prioritisation, hiring, vendor support, and releases.
- Early solution shaping & tech awareness: Able to lead early solution definition with architects/engineering, producing high-level designs, estimates, and timelines; awareness of automation, workflow, customer communications, and AI.
- Stakeholder influence & communication: Strong engagement skills with senior business/IT stakeholders, producing clear reports, presentations, documentation and MI to support decisions and maintain alignment.
- Certification: PMP / PgMP / SAFe (or equivalent) certification is required.
