The Cybersecurity Technology Engineering (CTE) function, part of Global Cybersecurity, is accountable for cloud and containers security engineering protection. The Engineering team within CTE supports and develops the software needed to meet the business requirements for the identification, assessment and remediation of security defects across HSBC’s estate including on premise, Cloud infrastructure and those resulting from third party engagements.
The Engineering Lead Wiz CNAPP will be a key part of the Cloud and Containers CNAPP capability team. They will, closely collaborate with peers across Cybersecurity, CTO cloud and infrastructure and the business development teams to enable integrating Wiz outcomes with HSBC processes, hereby reducing the risk to HSBC by enabling early identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering expertise within the CyberSec CTE team to support CNAPP solutions.
- Offer deep technical knowledge across multiple domains like Python, GoLang, Cloud, AI/ML, and Cyber Security.
- Lead and support teams to ensure optimal system performance within their technology area.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.
- Share technical learnings to upskill teams and enhance engineering practices.
- Design, develop, and deploy code to production frequently using agile and DevSecOps principles.
- Embrace a polyglot approach, adapting to any language or technology as needed.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and flexibility in tackling diverse technical challenges.
Requirements/Skill set
- Provide engineering expertise within the CyberSec CTE team to support CNAPP /ASPM /KSPM solutions.
- Possess deep technical skills across Python, GoLang, Cloud, AI/ML, and Cyber Security.
- Lead teams to ensure optimal performance and manage change end to end.
- Design, develop, and deploy code frequently using Agile and DevSecOps practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and share knowledge to upskill teams.
- Proficient in Java, GoLang, REST APIs, and deploying cloud-native solutions (AWS/GCP).
- Skilled in DevOps, security frameworks (NIST, CIS), and tools like Jenkins, Git, and Ansible.
- Experienced with Kubernetes, Docker, databases, and strong problem-solving abilities.

- Responsible for providing engineering expertise in CyberSec CTE team enabling our CNAPP solution. This could be a deep expertise in multiple areas of technology used within the bank, for example, Python, GoLang, Data Engineering, Cloud computing, DevSecOps, AI / ML, Cyber Security
- Responsible for providing technical leadership and support in their technology area and work with other members in their asset class to ensure the systems are functioning optimally.
- Stays up to date with emerging technologies, frameworks, tools, industry trends, and advancements in software development, engineering practices and automation. Applies such technical learnings by participating in technical discussions and engage in conversations with relevant teams to share knowledge and upskill wider engineering pods
- Ability to design, develop and release code into production, with proficiency in working in an agile way with a high empathy for continuous delivery and DevSecOps. Typically will release to production daily if not multiple times per day.
- Technology / programming language is not a barrier to getting things done - engineers will typically be polyglot and have no issues with learning on the job. They will have a natural understanding for the core technical skills instead of specific frameworks allowing them to be very diverse in what they can do or what problem solving is thrown at them.
- Has deep technical expertise and appreciation of system design and engineering practices, underlying infrastructure, tooling and related architecture & design principles
- Ability to build a case explaining benefits to address technical debt / platform improvement
- Takes ownership of production – a. build solution with a mindset of supporting it all the way through to production, b. actively participate in assisting with production incidents within and outside of their scope/remit, able to apply experience to identify most important parts of a problem
- Be part of Reviewing, designing and re-engineering solutions with his/her sub asset class’s engineering pods to improve performance, maintainability and security of end product.
- Good to have knowledge on AI/ML usage and adoption across project
- Responsible for managing and owning Change along with team end to end.
- Strong hands-on experience in Design, coding, deployment,
- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Golang, (REST) and other programming languages.
- Strong hands-on experience of deploying cloud native solutions in either AWS (preferred) or GCP
- Strong hands-on experience and knowledge of security tools integration.
- Strong understanding of various security frameworks like NIST, CIS.
- Strong hands-on experience software development life and DevOps tooling (e.g Jenkins, Git, Ansible, maven) and Agile Methodology
- Strong hands-on experience in RDBMS and No SQL databases like PostgreSQL.
- Strong hands-on experience of Kubernetes, Docker, Solace, Maven, Jenkins Pipelines and worked on different design patterns.
- Strong hands-on experience of service-based architecture with good interface practices.
- Strong hands-on experience with scripting knowledge, business rule technology like Drools
Working experience in highly scalable and data intensive application.
