We want back-end developers to join our Group Chief Information Office

We are working on the CDMS (Customer Data Mastering Services) platform. CDMS provides core customer data integration services to HSBC systems involved in the customer lifecycle, including onboarding, KYC, servicing, and relationship management. It connects consuming applications to central customer data capabilities that manage key entities such as Party, Contact Point, and Relationship.

The platform is built using Spring Boot microservices, MongoDB, and cloud-based deployment patterns, with secure API interfaces for enterprise consumption. CDMS is designed for scalability, resilience, and strong governance, supporting high-volume, low-latency access to trusted customer data across channels and business domains. We refer to these customer data services and APIs as being owned by our Team.

Who we’re looking for, and the skills you’ll need: 

If you’ve worked in financial services or fin-tech, it’s great. But if your career has taken a less traditional route, we encourage you to apply. We’re not looking for ‘the right logos on your CV. We’re interested in how you think, how you build, and the skills you can demonstrate.

You know back-end: Java, Spring boot, REST API, Microservices, Hibernate, Mongo DB, Kubernetes, Kafka - Points can be added

• Design, develop, and maintain Rest & SOAP-based Microservices applications.
• Implement and enhance solutions using Java 8 to Java 17 using Spring Boot, and Spring Framework and document technical designs, processes, and best practices.
• Integrate and manage messaging systems such as Kafka, IBM MQ and Solace.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes

You have experience of Backend Engineer in ‘high trust’ environment-

You should have strong Java 8–17 proficiency + object-oriented programming.

• Spring boot and Spring Frameworks experience, Hibernate
• REST API
• Mongo DB and Oracle

What your days will look like

• You’ll work in a small team. Usually 4-6 people. Normally together, sometimes remotely around the world.
• You’ll do hands-on Backend Engineer. Design, develop, and maintain Rest & SOAP-based Microservices applications.
• You’ll liaise with the business. Taking business requirements, convert them to technical requirement.
• You’ll support in deployment and production. We need to support production activity, like monitoring logs.
• You’ll proactively troubleshoot. Removing blockers, identify risks and communicate issues to program management.
• You’ll help us improve. You’ll will be a strong engineer for the CDMS platform who can design and deliver secure, scalable, cloud-native APIs using Spring Boot and MongoDB, strengthen                customer-data integration (Party, Contact Point, Relationship), and accelerate delivery through high engineering standards and AI-assisted development practices.
