We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Software Engineert to join our team.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor and maintain iSeries (AS/400) systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Provide Level 1/Level 2 support for production incidents, including root cause analysis and resolution. Manage job scheduling, batch processing, and system backups.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to iSeries applications, jobs, and system performance.
- Perform regular system health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with development teams to deploy and test application changes in production.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management.Document procedures, incident resolutions, and system configurations.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. Provide on-call support as part of a rotational schedule.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Proactively monitor and triage live incidents, performing detailed job and log analysis and applying remediation using CLLE, RPGLE, and DB2/SQL to restore services within agreed timelines.
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes, partner with SMEs to agree corrective and preventive actions, and reduce repeat incidents through measurable improvements.
- Work confidently across rotational shifts (morning/evening/night), including weekends, taking ownership of issues end-to-end and managing priorities calmly in a production environment.
- Implement approved changes, patches, and fixes in line with operational controls and ITIL-aligned practices (where applicable), ensuring appropriate validation, documentation, and risk management.
- Keep runbooks and support artefacts current and usable, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and make effective use of relevant tooling (e.g., RTC, RDi, AppDynamics or similar monitoring, ServiceNow) with a working understanding of Agile/Scrum ways of working.
