We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist

The Opportunity

app.hsbc is HSBC’s enterprise-grade internal developer platform, giving engineering teams a single path from code repository to live production with compliance and security controls built in. This role owns the strategic evolution of Internal Kubernetes Services (IKS) - the backbone of our private cloud and on-premises container compute across major global financial hubs including the UK and Hong Kong. You’ll shape a multi-year roadmap that converges legacy Kube-Ops environments into the modern app.hsbc developer console and expands Kubernetes-native deployment capabilities for Tier 0 and Tier 1 banking workloads. You’ll also own the platform experience vertical that reduces friction for developers and IT Service Owners (ITSOs) through the platform interface. Success means clearer platform contracts, faster and safer onboarding and a more automated and observable Kubernetes ecosystem with audit-ready evidence built in.

What you'll be doing

• Own the multi-year product roadmap for IKS aligned to Group CTO strategy and hybrid multi-cloud objectives

• Prioritise the backlog using value frameworks such as WSJF and RICE balancing reliability, security and technical debt

• Steer the migration of legacy Kube-Ops workloads and pipelines onto the app.hsbc standard delivery pipeline

• Deprecate bespoke tooling by establishing unified platform contracts for hosting and workload management

• Partner with Console and Frontend Micro-Frontend (MFE) teams to embed IKS across onboarding, component views and settings

• Productise Grafana observability (UniOP) for cluster health, pod metrics and unified logging

• Define requirements for OpenTelemetry (OTel) distributed tracing across platform and workloads

• Govern delivery to meet HSBC SDLC, DEPL and ICE controls including automated evidence generation and audit trails

What we're looking for

• Bring proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager or Systems Architect for developer platforms, Kubernetes platforms or cloud infrastructure products

• Apply deep, hands-on understanding of Kubernetes architecture and primitives including Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, CRDs and Operators

• Manage platform design considerations such as multi-tenancy, namespaces and resource quotas

• Use enterprise secrets management and container security practices such as least privilege and hardened runtimes

• Build modern CI/CD approaches including trunk-based development, immutable versioning and Helm or Kustomize deployments

• Embed automated quality and security gates using tools such as SonarQube, Nexus IQ and DAST or equivalent controls

• Run Agile product delivery using Scrum or Kanban with user story mapping, backlog management and release planning in Jira and Confluence

• Deliver technology outcomes in a highly regulated environment with strong audit, change management and risk frameworks
