Purpose of the role:

To help carry us even further, we are on the lookout for an experienced Product Owner resource to join our global team based in Pune, India. The candidate should be committed to understand business, data and transforming data into readable, goal-oriented reports that drive innovation and growth.The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of Requirements Gathering, Scoping, Prioritisation, Requirements detailing, whilst co-ordinating with Business, Operations and IT colleagues across the bank.
- Manage the process of accepting new demand, solicitating information required to add it to the backlog, ensure that the demand fits with wider HSBC strategy and maximise re-usability of existing assets.The position will focus on owning, scoping and prioritising business data requirements through data strategies and designs across multiple data platforms and data tools (reporting, visualization, analytics, etc.)
- Work closely with business, Operations and IT teams to establish business data needs, data strategies, co-design conceptual/logical/physical data models, and drive the build of Analytics and Insights. Be an individual contributor, and have the ability to lead a 1-4 members team in the future.Should be self-motivated to Collect and Interpret data, and turn it into simple and appropriate level of consumable information, that offers ways to improve a business, thus affecting business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to scope, prioritise and detail requirements across GPS Business Domains - Liquidity, Cards, Payments, Pricing & Billing, Client Services business units.
- Work alongside other members of the Product Owner team and the IT Business Analysts, to define both short term as well as long term features and strategies.Work alongside various technology teams – both internal and external – involving IT Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers, Test Engineers etc – to proactively scope & test the business requirements.
- The individual should be a capable hands-on contributor in analysing, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Data models – from a functionality standpoint.
- Use a combined knowledge of the Business domains, Payments applications and platforms, data modelling, statistics, and analytics to solve business and operational problems.
Qualifications:
- Vast experience in all aspects of Business Requirements Gathering, Scoping, Summarising, writing detailed User Stories, defining test cases in the financial industry. Past Banking experience in the role of a Product Owner.
- Domain experience across some of the GPS Business Units - Liquidity, Cards, Payments, Pricing & Billing, Client Services.
- Experience in collecting large data sets, identifying patterns and trends in data sets. Led the resolution of defects, requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Solid experience in stakeholder co-ordination, Functional Requirements and Change management. Capability to understand customer needs, translate them into backlog items, and deliver business value.
- Experience in Backlog management, prioritisation, defining acceptance criteria, and evaluate success.
- Sound knowledge of payments workflows and statuses across various systems within a large global bank.
- Understanding of payment clearing schemes, settlement processes, and payment formats.
- Ability to effectively navigate and deliver transformation projects in large global financial organisations, amidst the challenges posed by bureaucracy, globally distributed teams and local data regulations. Good experience in PL/SQL, querying data and analysing data. Exposure to Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Big Table, MongoDB, Neo4j
- Overall experience of 12+ years, with considerable experience in Business Analysis and Data.
- Experience in using Visualisation Tools.Experience in Agile methodology and leading agile delivery, aligned with organisational needs.
