We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist.

In this role, you will:

• Database Administration: Manage and administer PostgreSQL databases, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
• Performance & Reliability: Proactively monitor database performance, conduct in-depth performance tuning, and ensure high availability and reliability of all database systems.
• High Availability & DR: Design, implement, and manage replication, failover, and switchover solutions using tools like `repmgr`. Regularly validate backup/restore procedures, perform Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), and lead quarterly Disaster Recovery (DR) drills to meet RPO and RTO objectives.
• Development & Automation: Develop and maintain PL/pgSQL code (functions, procedures) and automate routine DBA tasks using tools like Ansible and Jenkins within a CI/CD framework.
• Cloud Management: Administer and manage PostgreSQL instances within GCP Cloud SQL, handling configuration, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Tooling & Extensions: Utilize and manage a suite of PostgreSQL tools and extensions, including `pgbackrest` for backups, `pg_cron` for scheduling, `pg_stat_statements` for query analysis, and `pg_repack` for maintenance.

To be successful, you will:

• 8+ years of professional experience as a PostgreSQL DBA. Expert-level proficiency in PL/pgSQL development, including writing complex functions and procedures.
• Hands-on experience with essential PostgreSQL extensions and tools such as `repmgr`, `pgbackrest`, `pg_cron`, `pg_stat_statements`, and `pg_repack`.
• Proven experience with strong skills in debugging, providing RCAs, and implementing robust fixes. Demonstrable experience with GCP Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, including instance management and administration.
• Strong background in performance tuning, monitoring, and ensuring release readiness for database changes.
• Proficiency with DevOps and CI/CD tools, including Jenkins and Ansible, for automation and infrastructure management.
• Experience with OS and DB patching strategies. Familiarity with IT Service Management tools (ServiceNow) and project management software (JIRA, Confluence).
• A proactive and ownership-driven mindset. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to document processes and incidents clearly. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
