Some careers shine brighter than others.
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realize their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Data and Analytics
In this role, you will
- Lead end-to-end platform delivery across multi-region DEV→PROD environments, ensuring on-time, on-budget rollouts with full NFR compliance.
- Define and enforce controls-as-code (IAM/RBAC, FOSS, SAST/DAST, certificate lifecycle) through automated policy gates, reducing audit findings and manual remediation effort.
- Drive infrastructure-as-code adoption (Terraform) to standardize provisioning, improve deployment frequency, and ensure repeatable, auditable infrastructure.
- Own platform availability, observability, and incident reduction targets by implementing centralized monitoring, alerting (e.g., xMatters), and proactive capacity management.
- Champion cloud cost optimization through rightsizing, workload migration, and decommissioning strategies.
- Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, and business teams to assess priorities, negotiate backlogs, and align delivery with strategic goals.
- Mentor and lead agile delivery teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and DevSecOps best practices.
To be successful , you will
- 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure delivery, or site reliability, with at least 3 years in a lead/managerial capacity.
- Hands-on expertise with GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) including multi-region deployments, networking, IAM, and security hardening. Strong Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency (Terraform) — designing modular, reusable configurations and driving adoption across multiple project teams.
- Proven track record in controls & governance — implementing policy-as-code, automated compliance gates (FOSS, SAST/DAST), RBAC, and certificate lifecycle management in regulated environments (financial services preferred).
- Experience delivering large-scale Hadoop/Big Data platforms including cluster performance tuning, capacity planning, and migration/decommissioning strategies. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — able to influence senior leadership, negotiate priorities across cross-functional teams, and translate technical risks into business language.
- Experience with Data Fabric / Data Mesh architectures, data cataloging, or data virtualization tools (e.g., Starburst, Prophecy). Background in DevSecOps pipeline design — CI/CD automation, container image lifecycle management, vulnerability scanning integration, and shift-left security practices.
- Familiarity with observability and AIOps tooling (centralized logging, APM, synthetic monitoring) and incident management workflows. Exposure to cloud cost management frameworks with demonstrated savings (FinOps principles, rightsizing automation, reserved/committed-use planning).
- Qualification : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Terraform Associate, ITIL, or equivalent). Experience working within Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks in a large enterprise setting.
You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
