We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Tech SME
The Opportunity
End User Services enables HSBC staff and systems to operate and communicate every day and the Workspace Platform team engineers the products that power our desktops, laptops and virtual workplace. This Associate Director role sits in the Endpoint Management domain and shapes how we manage and secure devices across HSBC’s global Windows estate. The focus is the shift from traditional endpoint management to a modern, cloud-first model using Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID and Zero Trust principles. You’ll set technical direction, govern architecture and oversee delivery across endpoint management, security, application delivery and device lifecycle management. Success means secure, scalable and user-centric services with strong operational governance and clear standards that work across regions and teams. You’ll partner closely with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Networking, Architecture and Business stakeholders in a regulated global environment.
What you'll be doing
- Define and execute the enterprise roadmap for modern device management and endpoint transformation
- Architect and deliver large-scale migrations from MECM/SCCM, GPO and traditional on-premises endpoint management
- Design and implement cloud-native endpoint management using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Entra ID
- Establish device enrolment, provisioning and lifecycle management standards including Windows Autopilot and zero-touch deployment
- Set RBAC models, operational governance and delegated administration frameworks across endpoint services
- Embed endpoint security and compliance standards with Cyber Security aligned to Zero Trust principles including Conditional Access
- Shape application delivery and Windows Update for Business (WuFB) strategy including update rings and patch governance to minimise disruption
- Build automation, reporting and observability for endpoint services using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API and self-service workflows
What we're looking for
- Bring substantial experience delivering enterprise endpoint management and modern workplace initiatives at scale
- Demonstrate deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Autopilot and Windows Update for Business (WuFB)
- Show strong experience with MECM/SCCM co-management, Group Policy (GPO) and modern transition frameworks from legacy tooling
- Apply Zero Trust architecture concepts to endpoint security, compliance policies, baselines and configuration management
- Deliver Conditional Access controls in partnership with identity and access management teams
- Architect cloud-native endpoint management solutions in large global organisations including integration with identity, networking, security and cloud platforms
- Improve content delivery and update performance using Delivery Optimisation, Connected Cache, Adaptiva or equivalent technologies
- Hold Microsoft certifications in Intune, Security, Endpoint Management, Azure or related technologies or bring equivalent demonstrable experience
- Operate effectively in regulated financial services or global enterprise environments with clear governance and risk awareness
