Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

  • Act as the single point of contact for the assigned IT Service(s), accountable for ongoing supply, support, and service performance across UAE and MENAT (Digital and Enabler services).
  • Own Service Strategy activities by defining the right service offerings, balancing business/customer needs against cost and delivery constraints.
  • Oversee Service Design by guiding solution architecture, defining key service metrics, and acting as a key escalation point for development and delivery teams.
  • Drive Service Transition to ensure new services/changes move smoothly from design into operations and meet all functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead Service Operations to ensure services continue to meet customer needs, taking corrective action where required, and ensuring services have a designated owner and are retired when no longer needed.
  • Deliver Continual Service Improvement by tracking performance targets and implementing incremental improvements to meet agreed outcomes.
  • Ensure service continuity, resilience, and recoverability (including DC loss recovery and protection/restoration of key data) in line with FIM expectations and service continuity controls (e.g., SCOTT/BRETT attestations).
  • Own capacity and service level management—ensuring performance expectations are defined, measured, and met while maintaining cost control.
  • Ensure strong operational risk, control, and compliance execution across change/configuration management, privileged access reviews, and monitoring/alerting, aligned to ORMF/Risk Management Framework and Helios.
  • Lead stakeholders through production stability activities including incident/problem management, major incident reviews, service improvement programmes, operational readiness/service acceptance, evergreening and patch management, and investment/governance reviews.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate (or higher) qualification, preferably in an IT-related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in software deployment/support, including at least 3 years in an IT leadership role managing small-to-medium teams across multiple countries.
  • Strong knowledge of HSBC IT systems, with in-depth understanding of Digital Business services and underlying business processes (hardware knowledge is an advantage).
  • Exposure across the full application lifecycle: specification/design, development/testing, implementation, and production support.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability (planning, resourcing/forecasting, coaching, performance management, recruitment/retention) with a track record of delivery to time/budget/quality.
  • Solid stakeholder management skills—able to build strong relationships, provide consultancy to business partners, and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences across time zones.
  • Strong risk and control mindset in a regulated environment, including familiarity with operational risk responsibilities (Three Lines of Defence), audit/regulatory readiness, and adherence to policies/procedures (including AML, Sanctions and ABC expectations).
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a changing environment, manage competing priorities/backlogs, drive continuous improvement and cost optimisation without compromising service quality, and manage third-party vendors/consultancies (Agile tools such as JIRA/Confluence preferred).

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
