Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

  • Risk-based assurance of technology changes (standard/normal/emergency) across RCT services to ensure changes are safe, controlled, and compliant.
  • Quality review of change records for completeness and evidence (scope, risk/impact, test evidence, implementation steps, monitoring, rollback/backout, approvals, communications).
  • Operate as a quality gate for CAB/eCAB by validating readiness, highlighting key risks, and ensuring decisions and rationale are properly documented.
  • Constructively challenge and escalate where risk is inadequately assessed or mitigations are weak, ensuring accountable owners close gaps before implementation.
  • Assure adherence to change management controls and maintain audit-ready evidence; support control testing and responses to audit/compliance queries.
  • Analyse change outcomes and change-related incidents, coordinating post-implementation reviews and driving lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
  • Track and report change performance and risk indicators (e.g., change failure rate, emergency change volume, recurring control breaches), providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement of change governance and tooling, including standard templates/checklists, process simplification, automation opportunities, and coaching teams on best practices.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • 10-12 years of experience in IT Service Management / Change Management / Change Assurance in a large enterprise environment (ideally regulated/financial services).
  • Strong working knowledge of ITIL Change Enablement and related ITSM processes (incident, problem, release/deployment coordination, service operations basics).
  • Hands-on capability to perform risk-based reviews of change records, including assessment of impact, dependencies, testing evidence, implementation/validation steps, monitoring.
  • Experience working with an ITSM toolset (preferably ServiceNow) for change workflow management, quality checks, and reporting.
  • Understanding of technology risk, controls, and audit evidence expectations—able to produce clear, traceable, audit-ready documentation.
  • Broad technical awareness across the change landscape (applications, infrastructure, databases, middleware, cloud), sufficient to challenge plans and identify common failure points.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and escalate appropriately when risk is not acceptable.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, including the ability to spot trends (e.g., repeat failures/emergency changes), summarise insights for leadership, and drive corrective actions to closure.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
