We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Tech Center Programme Delivery
In this role you will:
- Strategic portfolio delivery leadership : Lead the Tech Centre India strategic change portfolio end-to-end, translating strategy into an executable plan with clear outcomes, ownership, milestones and timelines. Ensure delivery progress is measurable and transparent.
- Executive advisory and decision enablement :Partner closely with the Head of Tech Centre India and the Executive Management team to advise on priorities, trade-offs and sequencing. Drive timely decisions by presenting concise options, implications, and recommended actions.
- Programme governance, controls and quality discipline :Establish and run robust governance aligned to Group standards (e.g., BTF), including project controls, QA processes, RAID management and dependency mapping. Maintain reporting cadence and ensure exceptions are clearly flagged with mitigation and decision requests.
- Operating model and organisational effectiveness :Review and shape organisational structure improvements, identify capability/skills gaps, and drive actions to close those gaps. Improve ways of working, clarify accountabilities, and streamline execution across functions.
- Cross-team coordination and blocker removal :Connect teams working on related initiatives, manage interdependencies, and proactively remove delivery constraints. Escalate issues early and drive resolution or sponsor decisions within agreed timeframes.
- Stakeholder management and governance hygiene :Run decision-led governance forums (ExCo/SteerCo/working groups), ensuring agendas and papers are issued in advance and minutes/actions are distributed promptly. Maintain stakeholder distribution lists and coordinate consistent communications.
- Executive communications and reputation management :Act as a communications arm for the leadership team, shaping and delivering an integrated communications approach aligned to GCIO strategies. Coordinate content for internal and external forums to strengthen business reputation and positioning.
- Leadership engagement, events and community building :Plan and deliver leadership visits, offsites, all-hands and townhalls (including content curation), and leadership exchange meetings. Ensure communications and events land well with employees and drive clarity, engagement and alignment.
- People agenda and culture stewardship :Contribute to and drive the people agenda for the Global Tech Centres, with a focus on culture, employee wellbeing and engagement. Serve as a trusted liaison between staff, senior leaders and executives.
- DEI sponsorship and representation : Act as a working DEI sponsor, representing the Head of HTI in DEI working groups/CWGs. Provide a sounding board for DEI initiatives and help convert ideas into practical, measurable actions.
- Executive operations and meeting effectiveness :Prepare materials for workshops, conferences, meetings and offsites, including drafting presentations and managing document flow. Ensure leadership time is used effectively through crisp briefs, clear decisions and disciplined follow-through.
- Financial oversight and operational management : Track portfolio costs against budget, maintain forecast accuracy, and manage workloads efficiently across self/team. Ensure artefacts are stored appropriately and retrievable quickly to support audit and governance needs.
- Risk, compliance and audit readiness :Uphold HSBC internal control standards, drive closure of audit points and issues raised by regulators, and manage compliance risk in partnership with relevant compliance stakeholders. Ensure early engagement on new initiatives and maintain appropriate evidence and records.
- Tech–Ops–Business alignment leadership :Lead collaboration across Technology, Operations and Business to align on shared outcomes (delivery, resilience, controls and people). Build accountability by ensuring Tier-1 initiatives have named sponsors, owners and success metrics.
In this role, you will:
- Post-graduate degree in management or technology from a reputed university is desirable. Evidence of continuous learning in programme leadership, communications, governance or transformation is beneficial.
- Proven experience in similar leadership roles : Demonstrable success in Chief of Staff / strategic delivery / transformation programme roles, ideally within large, complex organisations. Track record should be measurable and referenceable, showing tangible outcomes delivered.
- Strong executive stakeholder management :Extensive experience engaging CxO-level and senior leadership stakeholders, building confidence through clarity, predictability and disciplined follow-through. Comfortable influencing without direct authority across multiple sponsors and priorities.
- Programme and portfolio management capability :Strong hands-on experience with portfolio planning, milestone management, RAID and dependency mapping, and structured governance routines. Able to run decision-led SteerCos/ExCos and sustain a high-quality reporting cadence.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive outcomes : Evidence of success in roles with shifting priorities and unclear problem statements, bringing analytical rigour and structure. Able to frame problems, evaluate options, and drive practical solutions at pace.
- High-impact communication and executive writing :Excellent communication skills across written, verbal and presentation formats, including creation of management packs, decks and briefings for very senior audiences. Able to simplify complex topics and make decisions easier.
- Networking and cross-functional coordination : Strong experience coordinating across organisational functions, geographies and time zones, connecting teams working on similar initiatives. Skilled at aligning diverse perspectives towards shared outcomes.
- Governance, controls and audit discipline :Strong understanding of governance artefacts, audit requirements and internal control standards, with proven ability to close control gaps. Able to maintain audit-ready documentation, evidence and timely remediation tracking.
- Operational effectiveness and delivery rhythm :Able to manage workload effectively, prioritise competing demands, and escalate early with clear options and recommendations. Strong attention to detail with reliable follow-through on actions and commitments.
- Financial and commercial awareness : Experience tracking programme spend, managing budgets and forecasts, and maintaining financial discipline within approved tolerances. Comfortable linking spend to outcomes and benefits where quantification is challenging.
- Leadership capabilities aligned to HSBC expectations : Demonstrates the ability to navigate (align direction), aspire (raise standards), drive (deliver stretching goals), mobilise (engage stakeholders), and sustain (protect values, reputation and long-term outcomes).
- People, culture and engagement orientation : Experience supporting people agenda initiatives (engagement, wellbeing, culture), and running leadership engagement events that improve clarity and connection. Able to foster accountability while maintaining a supportive team environment.
- DEI mindset and sponsorship experience (advantage) : Exposure to DEI sponsorship, employee networks or working groups, and a practical approach to embedding inclusion into programmes, communications and leadership engagement.
