We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President – Tax
Purpose of the role:
The Assistant Vice President – Tax will be part of the wider regional Tax team and will support Asia Regional tax reporting activities, Hong Kong tax compliance, and various related reporting matters. The role will be based in India and will support the Asia Regional Tax Reporting team and Hong Kong Tax team based in Hong Kong. Due to short turnaround times over reporting periods, there will be key days at quarter-end and year-end where the role holder will be expected to work Hong Kong working hours.
In this role, you will:
- Support the review of tax numbers recorded in the financial reporting books and assist with managing tax controls across the regional reporting process.
- Review and challenge sites’ uncertain tax position reporting and ensure sites provide both verbal and written updates.
- Assist in preparing briefings for global and regional senior management on pre- and post-quarter-end and year-end reporting activities.
- Support Controllership colleagues as a secondary contact point for reporting material tax issues arising through financial reporting processes.
- Assist in managing the preparation of consolidated regional financial forecasts and stress tests.
- Support the review of tax numbers and the identification of uncertain tax positions for Hong Kong Bank (Asia Pacific) and other in-scope Hong Kong legal entities, as required.
- Assist in checking and reviewing Hong Kong corporate tax computations and filings prepared by external tax firms, including liaison with Finance, Operations, Business teams, and external tax firms for information collation and provision.
- Support responses to audit and tax authority requests, including information collation, written responses to queries, tax compliance risk and control assessments, account reconciliations for relevant accounts, and support for the Hong Kong corporate tax payment application process.
To be successful you will:
- Qualified professional with accounting or tax experience, ideally gained from top tier advisory or large financial institutions.
- Prior working experience in corporate tax; Hong Kong corporate tax knowledge and experience would be an advantage.
- Candidate background may include tax, governance, risk and compliance roles within consulting or industry.
- Familiarity with banking operating models, including processes, controls, governance and risk.
- Strong technology literacy and capable project management skills, with effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to demanding deadlines.
- Self-starter with strong analytical, organisational and time management skills.
