We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President-Tax

 

Purpose of this role:

  • The candidate will be part of the wider regional Tax team and shall support Asia Regional tax reporting activities, and Hong Kong (HK) tax compliance and various related reporting matters.
  • The primary responsibilities of this role will be to support the Asia Regional Tax Reporting team in Asia Regional tax reporting activities, and the HK Tax team in HK tax compliance and various related reporting matters (primarily in connection with HBAP HK matters but will include other HK entities).  The role will require working with various stakeholders (including other tax colleagues; various finance / operations teams, business teams, internal / external auditors and external tax firm).
  • The role will be based in India and assist the Asia Regional Tax Reporting team and HK Tax team based in HK.  Due to the short turn-around times over reporting periods, there will be some days where the role holder will be expected to work HK working hours.  This will be the case over the key days at quarter-end and year-end.  

In this role, you will:

Asia Regional Tax reporting

  • Support in reviewing tax numbers recorded in the financial reporting books and management of Tax controls on the regional reporting process
  • Review and challenge sites’ uncertain tax positions reporting, and ensuring sites provide verbal and written updates
  • Assist in the preparation for briefing with global / regional senior management on pre- and post- quarter-end / year-end reporting activities
  • Be a secondary contact point for Controllership colleagues to support their reporting of material tax issues arising as part of financial reporting processes

HK Tax

  • Support in reviewing tax numbers recorded in the financial reporting books of HBAP HK and other in-scope legal entities as required
  • Support in identifying uncertain tax positions of HBAP HK and other in-scope legal entities as required
  • Assist in preparation of tax reporting, financial forecasts and stress tests for HBAP HK and other in-scope legal entities as required
  • Assist in checking / reviewing the HK corporate tax computation and filing of HBAP HK and other in-scope legal entities which are prepared by external tax firm.  This may include liaison amongst various finance / operations teams, business teams and external tax firm for information collation and provision where necessary. 
  • Support HK Tax team in the HK corporate tax payment application process for HBAP HK

To be successful you will:

  • Qualified professional with accounting or tax experience, ideally gained from top tier advisory or large financial institutions. 
  • Prior working experience in corporate tax. HK corporate tax knowledge and experience would be an advantage.
  • Candidate background may include tax, governance, risk and compliance roles within consulting or industry.
  • Candidate should be familiar with banking operating models i.e. aspects of processes, controls, governance and risk.
  • Technology literate and capable of project management with effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to demanding deadlines.
  • Self-starter with analytical, organisational and time management skills.
