The global HSBC Infrastructure Finance (“HIF”) team comprised of Infrastructure Finance and Export Finance provides a full suite of financing solutions to corporates, financial sponsors, financial institutions and governments in a variety of sectors, including Infrastructure, Shipping, Transport, Logistics, Renewables and Power & Utilities.

The team provides a central point for clients to access product agnostic advice on financing, capital structure and structured debt capital markets, as well as origination and execution of infrastructure, project and export finance lending mandates. HIF plays a critical role in financing the energy transition for our clients and we have pivoted our business model, aiming to increase our provision of financing to key energy transition sub-sectors, to monetise the transition and deliver incremental revenue for the bank. HIF consists of over 175 employees located in 14 countries with key hubs in London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York.

The Export Finance team supports the cross-border trade of capital goods and services by HSBC’s clients using government support programs. These programs are administered by Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), to credit enhance the financing provided to the borrowers. The business is one of the world’s leading arrangers of ECA supported debt with a long-established track-record. 

The Export Finance team works across product, region, country and sectors to arrange medium and long-term financing for clients in the public and private sectors purchasing capital goods and services or investing in a particular region. Export Finance can cover inter alia infrastructure development, manufacturing equipment, marine assets, aircraft, power generation equipment, real estate and a host of other goods and services.

 

What you will do:

The Senior Vice President would support the origination and lead execution of export financing transactions for HSBC’s client base in Europe region and support origination and execution in other regions globally. The role will be focused on ECA backed transactions and specifically working with the French ECA Bpifrance Assurance Export at all levels. Applicants should be team players, showing high levels of motivation and strong work ethic underpinned by an interest and passion for export finance. They will also be strong communicators both with internal and external stakeholders, with the latter including, consultants, legal counsel, and other market participants.

 

In this role you will:

  • Lead, structure and execute corporate export finance transactions and in collaboration with the Infrastructure Finance team, structure / execute export finance elements of project finance transaction with ECA cover.
  • In conjunction with the local and coverage teams globally, maintenance and active engagement with key client relationships (borrowers and exporters) from an Export Finance perspective
  • Maintain and actively engage with ECAs, their international network, underwriting team at both senior and junior level, specifically with Bpifrance Assurance Export.
  • Review and negotiate financing legal documents with internal & external counsels, export credit agencies and clients. Assess corporate / project level due diligence including relevant market, technical and E&S reports.
  • Lead credit assessment on transactions and oversee HSBC internal approval processes on an export finance transaction, including credit approval processes.
  • Conduct industry and company-specific research and share market trends, knowledge and ideas with the team.
  • Demonstrate quality strategic thinking, leadership and provide oversight and guidance to junior colleagues, to drive excellence and perform to the highest standards.

 

You should apply if you have:

  • Strong experience in banking / corporate finance, with relevant experience in export finance
  • Demonstrated track record in managing the structuring and execution of export finance transactions to a range of clients, and across a range of ECA products, especially with the French ECA.
  • Experience with loan distribution and institutional placement / arranging would be an asset.
  • Advanced analytical & presentational skills, including ability to review financial model outputs for credit analysis, knowledge of Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Expert verbal & written communication, negotiation & interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in English and French – spoken and written (business level)
