What you will do:

 

Provide first-line risk management support for the HBCE Prime Finance Trading desk. The role sits within the Synthetic Financing / Securities Lending desk and focuses on supporting trading, inventory management, financing optimisation and client activity. In line with the desk’s trading mandate, you will help fund the entity and support the business by covering short positions through diversified self-funded solutions, while offering index, single stocks and financing solutions to European clients.

 

 

In this role you will:

 

• Provide first-line risk management support for the HBCE Prime Finance Trading desk

• Support the management of the desk’s inventory, borrow demand and financing needs

• Provide market colour to internal desks on borrow rates, availability and short coverage

• Maximise revenue from the firm’s inventory, while helping develop new revenue streams and trading strategies where appropriate

• Support the pricing and execution of securities lending and Synthetic Financing transactions

• Monitor positions, balance sheet usage, collateral and funding costs

• Help identify inventory shortages, special situations and optimisation opportunities

• Track market moves, corporate actions, client demand and stock-specific developments

• Ensure trader bookings and amendments are completed daily, working to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment

• Share information with other trading desks and support teams across time zones to help support the global business

• Coordinate closely with Sales, Operations, Legal, Risk and Middle Office teams

• Prepare desk analysis, trading commentary and performance reporting

• Be responsible for the daily calculation, monitoring and reporting of P&L

• Communicate with other trading teams to ensure trades and projects are handled in a timely and controlled manner, escalating issues where appropriate

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve procedures and streamline the business

 

 

You should apply if you have:

 

• 1–3 years’ experience in Markets with a good understanding of market risk across securities lending, repo, Synthetic Financing products or equity derivatives

• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, as well as experience with market data platforms such as Bloomberg or Reuters

• A good understanding of counterparty risk and exposure to client default scenarios

• Strong verbal communication skills in both French and English

• The ability to manage multiple priorities, with awareness of regulatory requirements and governance standards

• High attention to detail and strong risk awareness

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

• A proactive mindset, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic

• A team-oriented approach with a strong sense of accountability

• The ability to operate with discipline and sound judgement in a trading floor environment
