CIB Insights and Analytics (CIB I&A) is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. The work done in CIB I&A forms a vital input towards for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

 

Today, the CIB I&A team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related Strategic solutions. CIB I&A has become a one-stop shop for the CIB I&A section of the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as CIB I&A and Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Credit & Lending, IT Infrastructure, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management and analysis.

 

CIB Continental Europe I&A team based in Paris, providing analytics, data & insight support to various CIB I&A, CMB/ GB portfolios. Team’s focus is on using logical thought process and relevant statistical techniques and right tools & techniques & productize scaled solutions to analyse product portfolio metrics and risk behaviour to arrive at value-based optimum decisions.

 

What you will do:

 

The person in this role is expected to re-design and rationalize the Analytics, Technology, Architecture and Data. We are seeking an Assistant Director – Insights & Analytics to join the Insights & Analytics (I&A) team withing the CIB I&A.

 

The person will play a key part in using the power of data to solve problems, improve efficiency and generate actionable insights to support the business operations within Wholesale. The person will work closely with business stakeholders and other data professionals to develop and implement data-driven solutions for various bank wide use cases.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) from various sources, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and integrity. Design and optimize data pipelines, ensuring efficient data extraction, storage, and processing.

 

  • Extract and integrate data from external sources, such as public databases, social media platforms and third-party vendors to enhance advanced analytics capabilities.

 

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of complex transactional and demographic datasets to identify patterns for identifying risk and opportunities.

 

  • Develop innovative and impactful data-based tools and models for propensity modeling and risk mitigation, continuously evaluate the effectiveness of models and make recommendations for improvements.

 

  • Engage various stakeholders to understand and collect project requirement, present analysis and or results, make recommendations on strategy formulation and solicit project feedback.

 

  • Be engaged with the CIB data strategy development across HSBC In Continental Europe

 

You should apply if you have:

 

  • Good to have knowledge of Banking domain use cases with specific applications to data science problems.

 

  • Relevant experience, preferably in banking and financial sector.

 

  • University degree in Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or any other quantitative related discipline, PhD in quantitative field is highly preferred.

 

  • Proficiency in using Python, SQL, or similar analytically oriented programming languages.

 

  • In depth knowledge and experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms. Experience with cloud analytics platforms such as GCP, Azure and AWS and big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.

 

  • Extensive technical skill in data mining, able to understand various data structures both structured and unstructured and common methods in data transformation.

 

  • High technical aptitude, problem solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, motivation, and passion for data discovery.

 

  • Open minded and self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong sense of responsibility.

 

  • Knowledge and good experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik Sense will be a strong plus.
