We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Associate, Strategic Client Origination, HBCE, CCM (Credit and Capital Management).

 

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Support business origination through capital prioritisation and allocation process, including simplifying and digitising the origination business approval journeys
  • Formulate and drive business strategies to support acquisition of clients, broaden existing relationships to ensure profitable growth to support CIB’s growth ambitions
  • Coordinate with coverage, product teams and support functions to ensure capital and cost efficiency is incorporated into business decisions and aligned with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.
  • Critically assess Low-Return Clients, identifying and reviewing Client Plans with appropriate strategies to mitigate and track/action progress of remediation/enhancement of profitability
  • Actively drive Balance Sheet Velocity at the point of origination, as well as through periodic portfolio reviews, by using all available distribution tools whilst supporting key client objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the teams, including credibility with both Business and Risk leaders. Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations, along with addressing any issues raised by regulatory authorities
  • Periodic review of all names flagged by Radar, Early Warning Indicator tool and use initiative and independent judgment in analyzing information and making recommendations for effective management of the deteriorating credit position across the portfolio through the WWM ("Worry, Watch, Monitor") process
  • Oversight of logistics around multiple regular committees / forums and associated admin. Assist in compiling regional portfolio data for sector and company analysis and undertake any ad-hoc projects around RWA reductions, portfolio/sector reviews, transition risk etc.
  • Support achievement of the HSBC vision, values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making
  • Forward-looking thinking on AI and use of this for CCM will be considered a plus. Candidates with a strong ability to demonstrate this in the interview will be considered favorably.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Strong understanding of various financing instruments and banking products for Wholesale Banking, with the ability to identify opportunities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leaders
  • Clear understanding of the Group credit risk principles, policies and statutory compliances
  • Comprehensive knowledge of economic trends and regulatory environment
  • Extensive corporate lending experience with strong analytical skills and sound credit knowledge
  • Strong commercial mindset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to share and present complex information in a clear, concise, and accurate way
