The Vice President, Insurance, Institutional Client Group will have relevant experience and skills to meaningfully contribute to the develop and expansion of long-term commercial relationships with clients in the North America Insurance sector and their global activities.
 
The candidate will be responsible for growing revenues derived from Capital Financing (Debt Capital Markets, Credit & Lending, Acquisition Finance, Asset Finance) Global Markets (Credit Sales, Cash Equities, Interest Rate & Equity Derivatives, Foreign Exchange), Transaction Service (Cash & Liquidity Management, Securities & Trust Services and Global Trade & Receivables Finance) and investment management solutions through HSBC Asset Management.
 
The individual will be evaluated on their ability to both successfully defend and service existing business, as well as to originate new value-added transactions for assigned clients. We expect the individual to help us “up-tier” access and deepen our strategic dialogue with key decision makers at our clients.
 
In addition to the commercial aspects of the position, the selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the relationship management function for their coverage portfolio—including oversight of credit, KYC (know your customer) and/or internal projects and initiatives, as they arise.

As our Vice President, Insurance, Institutional Client Group you will:

  • Contribute to building HSBC’s Insurance coverage franchise and reputation in the marketplace, in support of revenue growth targets  
  • Deliver innovative solutions to clients’ needs across all product lines, gaining significant ancillary business and economic profits for the Group
  • Develop “Trusted Advisor” and “First Call” relationships for event-driven transactions by developing and pitching strategic solutions content-driven ideas and solutions that can differentiate HSBC from the competition
  • Coordinate origination and execution of activities across the platform including Capital Financing / Global Markets / Transaction Services / Asset Management products
  • Drive results against client plans for revenue generation, franchise transactions, alignment with product partners and customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to strict risk guidelines for lending and market exposure and ensure that we are comfortable with credit quality & client profitability targets  
  • Involve HSBC senior management in key client pitches to emphasize alignment with HSBC’s strategy to build business
  • Manage and mentor junior resources on team where required

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Track record of managing clients and new business origination skills
  • Strong connection with senior client contacts in insurance sector
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance sub-sectors: life, property & casualty, reinsurance, brokers and healthcare
  • Significant experience with GAAP / Statutory financial statements, company valuations, capital structure / regulatory requirements, debt / financial strength ratings, funding / capital markets and investments
  • Knowledge of Credit and Letter of Credit agreements, International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) / Credit Support Annex documentation, Master Repurchase Agreement/ Total Return Swap structures, risk management, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Product expertise in Global Markets (FX, Rates, Equity Derivatives, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Loan Markets) and transaction services (custody, cash management and securities services)
  • Proven ability to win mandates across a full range of products
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of clients on a global basis
  • Well organized with an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Able to cope well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Degree in Finance, Math, Business Administration or related field plus a strong experience at a global financial services company. Advanced degree i.e. master’s level is a plus
  • FINRA Series 79, 63 and 7 licenses
  • Strong team player and collaborative with colleagues across HSBC’s global platform
  • High level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and perform to the highest standards
  • Take an active role in initiatives outside of own role; proactively seeking different assignments to accelerate learning

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
