Join HSBC’s Global Markets Control Office team supporting the Americas Equities and Credit & Financing businesses. This role sits at the heart of how we run a safe, well-governed markets franchise, helping the front office deliver for clients while meeting the expectations of regulators and the bank’s conduct and control standards.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Drive the conduct agenda across the Americas Equities and Credit & Financing businesses, partnering closely with Front Office Supervisory teams
- Provide independent risk stewardship and counsel to business leadership, constructively challenging where needed to improve outcomes
- Support and strengthen the regional control framework, including reviewing new policies/standards and helping embed them effectively
- Monitor control effectiveness across E-Trading, Direct Market Access (DMA), and Securities frameworks; escalate issues and emerging risks promptly
- Track and support remediation for key issues, ensuring actions are implemented and progress is visible and sustained
- Deliver assurance activity, supporting desk/control reviews, thematic reviews, and other remediation/assurance work as required
- Run key governance forums: shape agendas, produce meeting packs, act as secretary, and keep discussions focused on material risks and controls
- Maintain issue reporting by supporting uploads and updates in HELIOS and other relevant systems
- Act as an escalation point for non-financial risk matters across stakeholder’s front-to-back
- Partner with Audit as an additional contact point and help drive timely closure of audit actions and control enhancements
What You’ll Bring (Requirements)
Must-haves
- Strong understanding of front-to-back processes and market practices across Equities and Credit & Financing, including Cash Equities, Equity Derivatives, and Prime Finance
- Knowledge of US regulations impacting the US Broker Dealer and Swap Dealer, and the ability to apply governance and control expectations in practice
- Solid understanding of Markets products and activities, including E-Trading, DMA, and Securities (ideally spanning Fixed Income, Cash Equity, and Equity Derivatives)
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, partnering effectively across business and support functions
- Strong analytical capability to assess risk impacts from business or control changes
- Demonstrable experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder work in a Global Markets environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience working directly with regulatory-facing control frameworks and governance expectations (e.g., FINRA, OCC, FRB, CFTC)
- Experience coordinating governance forums, assurance reviews, and issue management in enterprise tools (e.g., HELIOS)
