Join HSBC Global Markets in a front-office trading role focused on index, forward trading and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). You’ll help shape trading strategy, manage risk across a global book, and partner closely with Sales, clients, Quants and Technology to deliver strong outcomes—commercially and conduct-wise.
As our Vice President, Index Trader, you will:
- Generate revenue across index, forward trading and ETF products, contributing to desk strategy and optimization ideas
- Manage risk across a global indices/ETFs book (including delta, dividends, repo, FX and corporate actions) within approved limits (intraday and overnight)
- Price and make markets consistently for Sales and target clients, providing liquidity and trade ideas
- Execute client and firm trades in line with the desk’s Volcker designation, with a strong focus on conduct and HSBC values
- Partner with Sales and clients as a key point of contact, ensuring orders are executed in the best possible way and delivering fair customer outcomes
- Improve performance transparency by providing feedback on client hit ratios, new index opportunities and replication issues
- Collaborate with Quants and IT to enhance trading platforms and pricing systems
- Drive cross-asset and cross-region collaboration to build synergies, develop new products and grow revenues efficiently
- Support leadership and supervision of traders, including oversight across the trading lifecycle and day-to-day controls
- Maintain reporting discipline, including daily and monthly reconciliations as required
You´ll likely have the following skills to succeed in this role:
- Proven capability in index and/or ETF trading with a strong commercial mindset and disciplined risk management
- Demonstrated experience managing key risk drivers (e.g., delta, dividends, repo, FX, corporate actions) within defined limits
- Strong stakeholder management skills—able to work effectively with Sales, clients, Quants and Technology
- Clear commitment to market conduct, controls and fair customer outcomes, with confidence to escalate issues when needed
- Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration (required)
- FINRA licences: Series 7, 63 and 57 (required)
- Quantitative background adn codins skills is a plus
- Experience contributing to or leading platform/pricing enhancements with Technology and Quant teams
- Track record of cross-asset product collaboration and building scalable trading solutions
- People leadership experience (coaching, supervision, performance development)

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
