The Credit eTrading / Systematic Trading Associate will support the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of electronic and systematic trading strategies within the Global Credit and Financing business. This role will contribute to quantitative research, trading analytics and platform enhancements, working closely with flow trading, technology, research and risk teams to deliver scalable, data-driven solutions aligned with HSBC’s strategic objectives and control standards.
As our Credit eTrading, Associate, you will:
- Strategic Support & Collaboration:
- Support the execution of the systematic trading roadmap by delivering research, analytics and tooling enhancements
- Work closely with Flow Trading, Technology, Research, Risk and Compliance to ensure solutions are practical, well-controlled and aligned to desk priorities
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on continuous improvement and disciplined delivery
- Trading & Strategy Development:
- Assist in the design, testing and optimisation of systematic trading strategies across global credit products (e.g., corporate bonds, CDS, Indices, ETFs, repo)
- Perform quantitative analysis on market and trade data to identify opportunities and validate strategy hypotheses, including transaction cost and liquidity considerations
- Help implement research outputs into production in partnership with technology teams, including documentation, testing and change control
- Support initiatives that improve pricing and distribution of credit products into our Wealth client network through better analytics, automation and workflow
- Analytics, Monitoring & Performance:
- Develop and maintain pre- and post-trade analytics to evaluate execution quality and strategy performance (e.g., TCA, slippage, attribution, regime analysis)
- Monitor live strategies and key health metrics; investigate performance changes and support timely escalation and remediation where required
- Produce clear, concise reporting for stakeholders on performance drivers, risks and improvement opportunities
- Risk Management & Governance:
- Operate within defined risk parameters and support the implementation of monitoring, thresholds and “stop” procedures for systematic strategies
- Assist with governance requirements including model documentation, testing evidence, change management and responses to risk/compliance queries
- Maintain high standards of conduct, data usage and control discipline in line with regulatory and internal requirements
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with Flow Trading teams to ensure systematic tools and strategies complement the broader flow business and client facilitation
- Partner with technology, data and infrastructure teams to improve platform resilience, data quality and automation (e.g., alerts, runbooks, incident follow-up)
- Communicate progress, issues and outcomes effectively across a global, matrixed organisation
You´ll likely have the following skills to succeed in this role:
- Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance) or equivalent practical experience
- Direct experience in credit markets, eTrading, systematic trading, quant research, or a closely related role
- Working understanding of global credit markets, products and trading workflows
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python) and familiarity with software engineering best practices; C++/Java is a plus
- Experience working with market/trade datasets and building analytics (e.g., time series analysis, TCA, performance attribution)
- Demonstrated risk awareness, attention to detail and ability to operate effectively in a controlled environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; experience working in a global, matrixed organisation is desirable

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
