Job description

Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. Here at HSBC, we use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth, and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities, and the planet we all share.

In compliance with applicable laws, HSBC is committed to employing only those who are authorized to work in the US. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as HSBC will not engage in immigration sponsorship for this position.

Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM) controls are designed to reduce the impact and severity of disruption associated with the loss or unavailability of people, systems, premises and third parties (or other incidents) that create customer, regulatory, reputational and/or financial impact.

Reporting to the US BCIM Assurance Testing Lead, the US BCIM Assurance Testing Coordinator supports the US entity’s Resilience Assurance & Testing capability by coordinating the planning, execution support, evidence capture, reporting, and remediation tracking for resilience exercises and tests across Business Continuity Management (BCM), Incident Management, and Operational Resilience (including scenario test plans for US Important Business Services (IBSs) and evidencing preparedness against defined impact tolerances). You will collaborate closely with Global teams, coordinating US inputs to Group test planning under the direction of the VP and ensuring appropriate IBS stakeholders are engaged.

In addition, the role coordinates the annual Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) review and approval cycle for a select portfolio of business functions, supporting BCM lifecycle governance, documentation quality, reporting, data validation and ensuring plans and BIAs remain testable and evidence ready.

As our Business and Operational Resilience Testing Coordinator you will:

  • Support the US BCIM Assurance Testing Lead in coordinating the US BCIM annual testing plan and integrated calendar, including scheduling, stakeholder engagement, logistics, and tracking deliverables to completion across BCM, Incident Management and Operational Resilience testing
  • Prepare standard materials (briefing packs, agendas, minutes/actions logs, evidence checklists), support selected tabletop/simulation exercises, and ensure evidence packs are complete, organized, and audit-ready in line with internal standards. Escalate material gaps in scope, execution, or documentation to the Lead
  • Maintain trackers for issues/actions arising from exercises and incidents, coordinate updates with owners, and support closure discipline (including re-test coordination where directed by the Lead)
  • Compile routine management information (e.g., completion status, action ageing, recurring themes) and support governance reporting by maintaining accurate underlying data
  • Coordinate the annual BIA refresh and BCP review/approval cycle for a defined set of business functions as part of your assigned portfolio, performing pragmatic completeness/quality checks and maintaining an evidence-based audit trail; escalate material gaps and non-compliance to the Lead
  • Build effective working relationships with Business and Function contacts and coordinate with related resilience capability teams to ensure testing outcomes and lessons learned are appropriately captured and progressed
  • Coordinate collection and organization of third-party/supplier testing evidence in partnership with relevant teams (e.g., service owners), and escalate gaps to the US BCIM Assurance Testing Lead

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Proven experience in a coordinator/analyst capacity supporting business continuity, incident management, operational resilience, operational risk, or control/assurance activities in a regulated environment (financial services preferred)
  • Exposure to Operational Resilience testing for Important Business Services (IBSs) and/or scenario testing against impact tolerances
  • Experience coordinating third-party/supplier resilience testing evidence in partnership with relevant teams
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate end-to-end activity across multiple stakeholders (planning, scheduling, tracking, follow-up), with strong attention to detail and minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of the BCM lifecycle (BIA, BCP maintenance, exercising/testing, lessons learned and actions management) and what “good evidence” looks like for audit and regulatory review
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear minutes, action logs, evidence summaries and concise MI for governance reporting
  • Strong organization and documentation management skills (version control, repositories, trackers), with confidence handling high volumes of evidence and maintaining a robust audit trail
  • Ability to challenge constructively and escalate issues appropriately to the US BCIM Assurance Testing Lead when deliverables, quality, or timelines are at risk
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, capability-based operating model and build trusted working relationships
  • Proficiency with common productivity tools (e.g., Excel for trackers/MI, PowerPoint for packs, Word for templates); ability to learn internal systems quickly
  • A proactive, delivery-focused mindset with a strong sense of accountability and control discipline, aligned to maintaining HSBC internal control standards

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package including a robust Wellness Hub, all in a welcoming and inclusive work environment. You will be empowered to drive HSBC’s engagement with the communities we serve through an industry-leading volunteerism policy, a generous matching gift program, and a comprehensive program of immersive Sustainability and Climate Change Initiatives. You’ll want to join our Employee Resource Groups as they play a central part in life at HSBC, including the development of our employees and networking inside and outside of HSBC. We value difference. We succeed together. We take responsibility. We get it done. And we want you to help us build the bank of the future!

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
