The Associate, Index Trader is responsible for driving revenue generation across index products, forward trading, and ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds). The role contributes to the development and refinement of trading strategies, while actively managing the risk profile of the global indices and ETFs book, including key sensitivities and exposures such as delta, dividends, repo, and corporate actions.
As a key point of contact for Sales teams and clients, the Associate, Index Trader ensures client orders are executed to the highest possible standard, with a strong focus on best execution and consistent alignment with HSBC’s values.
As our Associate, Index Trader you will:
- Supervise traders, with a high level of responsibility covering the entire trading process cycle and a specific focus on conduct
- Communicate commercial opportunities and optimization strategies across, upward and downward
- Manage teams and collaborate across assets and regions to increase synergies and revenue
- Maintain various risk positions and manages within position limits, providing liquidity and trade ideas to clients while trading within set limits to help the trading team achieve a given revenue target
- Identify when decisions need to be taken to a high level
- Provide consistent pricing and market making to sales force and target clients
- Provide feedback to sales and management about Client hit ratio (target, new indexes, replication issues)
- Collaborate with IT and Quants to enhance trading platform and pricing systems
- Foster collaboration to provide new products to our clients
- Develop strategies to increase Net revenues and reducing costs (financial resources)
- Execute firm and customer’ trades in accordance with desk Volcker designation, focusing on conduct and HSBC values
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline
- Prior experience working in a capital markets capacity
- FINRA SIE, S7, S57, S63 licences are required. A contingency period to obtain licences can be provided at the discretion of the manager

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
