Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF) Analysts / Associates play a key role within the LAF team, responsible for working with Vice Presidents / Directors / Managing Directors to implement LAF's and the wider Investment Banking Group’s strategy. As a junior member on the LAF team, you are responsible for helping to both win new business and executing / leading leveraged finance-based transactions. You will be routinely interacting with clients and investors from a junior level and will learn valuable critical thinking and financial analytical skills. You will come in for a career track role, the HSBC LAF team differentiating itself through elite training and retention of junior talent that is unrivaled by Wall Street competitors.
You will work as a generalist, covering a vast array of industries and both sub-investment grade and investment grade mega-cap clients. Additionally, there is a focus on covering Private Equity based clients in achieving some of their largest and most complicated buyouts. Key products you will be working with are leveraged loans, high yield bonds and other bank-based financing products to support acquisitions, refinancings, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and helping clients achieve their desired growth objectives.
As our Analyst/Associate, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance you will:
- Support advisory and coverage delivery focused on broad range of clients
- Develope valuations and creating/analyzing financial models, as well as conducting financing, comparative and pro forma analyses
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and other materials for clients
- Interact with clients and various levels of management, and acting as an integral part of the engagement team
- Keep up to date with the markets and the sector developments, understanding regulatory frameworks in relevant jurisdictions to support developing advice, valuation and financing structures
- Collaborate with product and country teams
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Previous investment banking or capital markets experience, and good understanding of financial markets
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Background in financial modelling and valuation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of HSBC Group and products
- High levels of motivation and strong work ethic
- The position requires a self-confident person who is highly motivated and reliable, with strong team spirit
- Bachelor’s degree from a leading university and exceptional academic performance
- FINRA Series 63, 79 and 7 licenses required. These can be obtained after joining if not currently held

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
