Role Purpose:

Managing a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors of key CIB Banking Relationships, mainly Government Related Entities, within the Oman coverage team.  To provide pro-active support in deepening client relationships and improving income generation through focused business development activities, including managing the portfolio of clients independently.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Contribute to the continued development of the CIB Banking and specifically sector strategy. The client base comprises some of the country leading in various sectors such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Shipping, Utilities Providers, Telco, Aviation, to name few.
  • Ensure prompt and appropriate response to customer enquiries and concerns by problem solving and facilitating the process by liaising with product and support areas
  • Work with line manager/ Head of Banking in identifying strategies to maintain /enhance overall relationship return, increase revenues while optimizing the utilization of credit facilities, and ensure early identification of potential credit issues
  • Provide general support to the Line Manager/Head of Banking in servicing client relationships and enhancing income generation.
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of own clients by deepening client relationships and improving income generation through focused business development activities
  • Work with the Business Credit Office on the preparation of structured and focused credit memorandums for clients within the sectors, covering annual reviews and new money proposals
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Develop strong sectorial/product expertise and provide high quality competitor and client level analysis to support business development and credit risk assessment
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager/Head of Banking, or as agreed in annual objectives, in support of achieving the business objectives CIB Banking
  • Liaise with members of the client service team, ensuring a co-ordinated approach to enhancing the client relationship.
  • Engage with relevant product teams including GPS, GTS, FX, etc to ensure coordinated approach towards achieving relationship development objectives.
  • Develop strong bonds with the decision makers of your own client portfolio
  • Work diligently with Credit Risk Management to present written recommendations and manage risk
  • Proactively and effectively manage financial crime risk in team portfolio. Work closely with FCC to resolve all queries and issues that might arise from time to time.
  • Co-ordinate closely with the Banking Middle Office (BMO) to ensure new account on-boarding queries are addressed quickly and the on-boarding process is completed in a timely manner.
  • Live and represent the HSBC Brand and Values both internally and externally

  • Take an active role in initiatives outside of own role; proactively seeking different assignments to accelerate learning.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage Deals and Pipeline transactions within ClientVision to ensure that the transaction data and status are accurately reflected
  • Monitor income generation and effectively manage the financial reporting and analysis for the client portfolio

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Understanding of risk management and credit mitigants
  • Strong business development, financial analysis and analytical skills
  • Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, clients and products and provide a high-quality analysis of Credit risk
  • Ability to develop good working partnerships with credit, client management and product teams
  • Ability to provide strong analytical and marketing support to Relationship Managers
  • Strong IT skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Knowledge of the full spectrum of CIB products and services
  • Robust understanding of Financial Crime Risk Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team player and demonstrate a high level of attention to details, strong organizational skills and willingness to be a driven self-starter
