Vice President Risk, HSBC Invest Direct Securities (India) Pvt. Ltd (HISL) 

Job Summary 

HISL is HSBC Group company in India with focus on Retail Broking, Portfolio Management Services and Investment Advisory being key focus areas for its customers. HISL is part of HSBC India’s IWPB Line of Business. Risk is an independent Second Line of Defence (2LoD) function. Risk team provides end-to-end risk oversight over all Risk areas and provide active risk management throughout product and transaction lifecycle.

The Role Holder will be primarily responsible for supporting the all lines of business of HISL,  providing Risk oversight and support to country Head of IWPB Risk, HSBC India.

This entails:

• Develop and implement the overall risk management framework for all lines of businesses, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and HSBC’s risk appetite.
• Identify, assess, and monitor all material risks (market, credit, operational, conduct, and reputational) associated with entity’s activities.
• Lead the design and execution of risk mitigation strategies, including the establishment of robust controls and escalation procedures.
• Oversee the risk assessment of new products, services, and business initiatives, providing clear recommendations to senior management.
• Ensure timely and accurate risk reporting to the Board, senior management, and relevant committees.
• Foster a strong risk culture across the firm, promoting awareness and accountability at all levels.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in risk management practices, leveraging data analytics and industry best practices.
• Managing the product governance cycle for all HISL’s products & services from a 2LOD perspective. Supporting the risk assessments of all new products & services.
• Representing Risk Team at local and regional governance meetings.
• Helping determine trends and help proactively provide a forward looking view of potential risks and issues, making use of data & analytics to increase control oversight over conduct related risks.

Experience level: 8+ years of relevant experience. 

Qualifications:

• University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
• Relevant professional qualification, such as Chartered Accountant, MBA, Financial Risk Manager or equivalent preferred
• Relevant working experience in the Retail Broking
• Experience in a risk management or control function environment preferred
• Strong analysis, decision-making and risk management, and evaluation skills
• Solid communication, good negotiating, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently under tight timeline
• Excellent communication in English
