We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Non Financial Risk (NFR) team.

 

 

Job Introduction

The Non Financial Risk (NFR) team is a first line risk and control management function within Markets & Securities Services (MSS). This role will partner with various stakeholders in the three lines of defence to manage and control non-financial risks in the MSS business, and supporting MSS Operations teams.  NFR is focused on improving and strengthening MSS Operations risk and control environment with Global and Local initiatives driven out globally, regionally or by the Operational Hubs. The team also uphold existing internal control principles and processes against internal HSBC Policies and general Operational Risk Controls. 

 

The NFR team is in charge of providing a 1st Line of Defence risk advice, challenge and operational support to the business over the management of the MSS risk and control environment.  The role will be responsible for executing the NFR risk and control agenda for the South Asia MSS Operations, APAC Region.  

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • RMF Policy& Assurance – To understand and interpret all Risk Management Framework (‘RMF’) requirements (and changes thereto) and to provide on-going assurance and reporting regarding global adherence with requirement;
  • GMP Policy – To understand the Global Mandatory Policy Framework and to manage and oversee the cascade and adoption of any changes thereto;
  • Governance & Reporting – To oversee, support and deliver fit for purpose risk governance arrangements and related reporting (and other ad-hoc reporting as required);
  • Assurance & Monitoring – To assist the NFR function in the consistent design and delivery a suitable risk based assurance and monitoring programme (including substantive control testing (ICMP), Key Risk Indicaators (KRI) and Thematic Reviews)
  • Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) – To assist the NFR function to ensure the MSS RCA is dynamically maintained, based on all relevant risk triggers;
  • Supporting as required any related risk and control related activities including, but not restricted to, liaison with Internal/External Audit and Regulatory Authorities as well as key internal stakeholder.
  • KRI Monitoring – To assist control owners on the annual review of KRI as a minimum requirement, and be presented to the relevant Business Risk Management Committee for approval.  Key Risk Indicators and thresholds should be continuously assessed and evolved in line with business/product/client changes.
  • Event Management - by supporting incident events, lessons learnt and themed analysis. Monitor the implementation of management action plans to ensure timely remediation and enhancements are incorporated in the control environment.
  • Read Across – to perform global and regional control read across resulting from material internal trigger events or external incidents
  • Internal/External Audit - Partner with 2nd, 3rd Lines of Defence (LOD), external exams / audits and Control Owners to drive quality outcomes that materially enhance the risk profile of the business.
  •  Risk Culture - Drive the conduct and culture agenda in Operations in order to raise the risk awareness and control expertise.

 

 

Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:

 

 

  • The role holder should have experience in a risk and control function as well as having a good working knowledge of MSS Operations and processes. They must be able to understand risks associated with these processes.
  • Analytical and detail orientated
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of MSS operations and business
  • Solid process, risk and people management skills, stakeholder skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues succinctly and clearly
  • Proven ability in problem solving and prioritization skills. Able to multitask under pressure with a keen eye for detail
  • Delivery and execution focused. The role requires a proactive and articulate individual, comfortable with dealing with senior management and able to deliver key messages and tailor output to the audience
